This document gives specific details regarding the course.

Course No. : MEE 411

Course Title : Operations Research
Course Coordinator : Dr. P.K.Chaudhary
Instructor-in-Charge : Dr. P.Mathiyalagan

Course Description:
Operations Research (OR) refers to the science of decision making. This course provides a
survey of fundamental methods of Operations Research and their applications at an introductory
level. The emphasis is on applications rather than the details of methodology. By the end of the
course, students will be exposed to a wide variety of applications and problems that can be
addressed using Operations Research techniques.

Scope & Objective:

The scope of the course primarily spans the fundamentals of mathematical modelling and
solution techniques.
The objective of the course is as follows:
1. To provide students the knowledge of optimization techniques and approaches.
2. To enable the students apply mathematical, computational and communication skills needed
for the practical utility of Operations Research.
3. To introduce students to research methods and current trends in Operations Research.
