Good morning everyone who gathered here today for the women’s
day celebration of Barangay _______.

A heart-warming good morning to (please mention VIP’s and

guests), to all women, and others who are present here, we have all
gathered here to celebrate women’s day and to celebrate the achievement
of women and the strength to fight with whatever comes in her way.
International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 worldwide,
commemorating the political, social and economic achievements of women.
Over the decades, the objective of Women’s Day celebration has evolved
and embraced culture and ethnicity to emerge as a celebration of
appreciation, respect and love towards women. A woman in herself is a full
circle and complete within herself she has inside her the potency to fight for
whatever is right!

To be a successful woman today, one needs courage, determination

and vision. With the daily stresses and pressures of everyday life women
need to be encouraged, supported, motivated and inspired to continue
pushing onwards and upwards.

As a one of the legislature in the City, as one of the councilor for the
past 3 years there are ordinances and resolutions that we have passed for
the enhancement and empowerment of women in the city will be
strengthen some of these are: the establishment of barangay Anti-Violence
Against Women and their Children desks in the 26 Barangays, Creating the
General Santos City Council of Women, defining its role, function and
composition, providing separate precinct exclusive for pregnant women,
senior citizen and persons with disabilities and a lot more. So let us
continue performing and help each other.

As a man, with a mother, wife, sisters and 2 daughters I really value

the role of women in my life, as they give me happiness and reasons to
also value my life and continue to be strong as the father of my family. I
may not know how to become a woman, but what I know that women
needs to be treasured, not just for one day but every day or let me say for a
lifetime, it needs no expiration and limit, for the love of a woman as a
mother, as a wife, or any other, is unconditional, as per experience. “You
may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may
be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what
you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.” – Maya Angelou
