Ph.D Admission- July 2018

Candidates will be shortlisted for the written test based on their academic performance in B.Tech (or
equivalent) and M.Tech degrees. The test is scheduled 30.05.2018 at CSE department, IITG and candidates
have to report at 9am for registration. They have to carry a photo ID card, copy of the application form and
demand draft (details of the DD will be announced later) when they appear for the test. Other documents are not
needed at the time of test.

The test consists of 2 parts. Part A – (9.30 am to 10.30 am). This part covers (a) general aptitude, (b) discrete
mathematics (c) programming & data structures. There will be a total of 50% weightage for Part A.
Part B – (10.45 am to 11.45 am). There will be five sections in Part B: (a) algorithms, (b) formal languages &
automata theory, (c) computer organization & architecture, (d) operating systems, (e) computer networks.
Candidates have to choose any two sections and attempt questions only from those selected sections. There will
be 25% weightage for each section.

Results of the written test will be announced at 3pm on 30.05.2018. For qualified candidates there will be an
interaction session at 3.30 pm. The faculty and research scholars will brief about the ongoing research works in
the department. At the end of this interaction section, each candidate has to give the list of panels (at most two)
in which they would like to appear for the interview. Interview panels will be stream wise as follows.
