Together with a coupling, the 05T screw compressor can be assembled quickly and easily For information on how to select the appropriate size motor for an application please refer to the 05/06T Application Guide. Shown in Table I are the Clange and coupling (Flange and Coupling Packages requirements based on the motor selection. Before instalation, ver- ify that all the listed components are in the package. Figure 2 shows the Clange and coupling guard sup- plicd in package OTAOQ3I. The remaining package components are shown in Figure 5. All three Clange packages use the same hardware to mount the flange to the compressor (Items 4, 5, 6). ‘The same coupling guard and associated hardware (items 7, 8,9, 10) are used to mount the guard onto the flange. The G-flange packages differ in the C-lange itself (Item 11), the hardware used to mount the flange to the motor (Items 2, 3), and the spacers used to sup- ‘port the front foot of the compressor (Item 11). ‘The OTAO029 package is supplied with two con pressor front foot spacers. The 108" thick spacer will support the compressor used with a 15 and 20Hp C- face 1750 rpm motor. The .858" thick spacer will sup- port the compressor used with a 25 and 30Hp Gface 1750 rpm motor. ‘There are no extra components supplied with package 0TA0930. The OTAQ931 package is used with all the 3600 rpm motors. Three compressor front foot spacers and two sets of hardware are supplied to mount the lange (© the motor. Table $ indicates which components are used with which motor. See the Carlyle Application Guide for more information on motor selection. Mount motor to the frame. Compressor Coupling Hub 1. The coupling kit consists of (8) parts + hub to mount onto a suaight motor shaft Which includes (2) 3/8 + orange Hytrel elastomer * hub to mount onto a Carlyle OST screw com- pressor with a 1/8" per inch taper on the 14" shalt. Remove the compressor coupling hub from the box. Verify that itis the tapered shaft hub and not the straight shaft hub. 4. Inspect the compressor shaft and compressor tapered hub, Remove any protective coatings, lubricants or burrs from the hub and shaft mating surface. Insert the key in the compressor shaft key- ‘way. 5. Install the tapered compressor hub on the com pressor shall. Make sure the keyway on the com- pressor hub is aligned with the keyway on the co prestor shaft 6. Install the flat washer, lock washer, and hex head bolt which were removed in Step I onto the end of the compressor shaft. Holding the tapered hub with one hand, torque the hex head bolt to ‘approximately 10 ft/Ibs Dowel Pins (CFlange/Compressor Union. Verify that the Cflange (Table 2, Item 1) part number is correet for the motor size. Insert the (2) x14" spring dowels (Table 2, Item. 6) into the compressor gear housing. The dowels should be inserted in the holes on the compressor directly above and below the shaft position. See Figure 5 for proper location. With a plastic or rubber mallet, tap the spring dowels into the compressor gear housing so that half the dowel is inserted into the compressor gear housing holes Before installing the Cflange, it is important that the orientation is correct. One side of the Gflange mates to the compressor side and the other side mates to the motor side. Insert the C-Flange on the compressor end, mating the spring dowels with the proper C-flange holes. Install the four (M12x1.75x40) socket head bolts and 4" SAE flat washers (Table 2, Items 4, 5) to the ‘G-lange and compressor. Remove any protective coatings, lubricants or burrs from the hub and motor shaft mating sur- faces prior to installing. Install the key into the motor shaft keyway. Next slide the motor hub onto the motor shaft making sure the key is aligned with the motor hub keyway. Slide the motor hub down the motor shaft as far as possible. This clearance will be needed later in the assembly process. Insert the Hytrel elastomer (orange insert) into b. Align the elastomer teeth with the er grooves.
