Martin Luther King Analysis

The biggest weakness of human beings in general is that we tend to have a short attention

span. Kings speech lasted a staggering seventeen minutes, which for certain people is far too

long for their attention spans. This means that to make his speech more affective he could have

made it shorter and more concise in order to keep people’s attention through the whole speech.

This is also just a more effective strategy as whole because in the end people will see that the

speech was short and powerful only making it that much better. The next weakness to King’s

speech is that although he was very smart by appealing to the emotions he does this too much

without giving enough statistics behind it. Now while the speech was okay for me and I would

not ask for any statistics it would be in his favor to provide actual evidence and data that shows

the African American community inherently disadvantaged in multiple areas.
