You must be the mom/dad of the house?​ (PAUSE - WAIT FOR AN ANSWER AND SMILE!)
Cool. I’m with Southwestern Advantage, and I am sitting down with all of the parents
and teachers (OR GRANDPARENTS) here in …. ​{subdivision/town/county} showing an
educational system for high schoolers down to little ones.

DOOR DEMO
The  goal  of  doing  a  door  demo  is  to  show  the  best  features  of our system. IMPORTANT - when you 
show a section from the book then look yourself the pages you are demonstrating. 

(GRAB THE BOOK FROM BAG AND START SCROLLING THROUGH) Just so you don’t miss
out on at least seeing what everyone’s been getting. These things are AWESOME!
There are 2 main reasons why all these moms have been signing up. ​First, it helps
moms to help their kids when they get stuck and second, it’s a huge time saver.
I was talking with one mom ​(BETTER TO USE REAL NAME) and she said what frustrates
her the most is that her kids will come home from soccer practice all hot and sw​eaty,
sit down at the dinner table and ask her for help on homework. She’ll show them how
to do it. But you know what the kids always say (PAUSE)​. “That’s not the way the
teacher taught us”

and breaks them down step-by-step with a written explanation for each step.
It even covers different methods - the way you used to do it and all the new methods
they are teaching now. Cool, isn’t it? That’s why everybody has been getting these.

The only time you skip asking is when the person was very negative or sceptical and did not open up 
at all. The goal is finding new prospects.

By  showing  that  you  have  some  information  about  the  neighborhood  already  increases  your 
credibility and the parent is more willing to give you the information you are asking.

across the street and she told me I should skip next door to her because they are

The goal of first part of introduction is to show that you are a cool college student.

have really enjoyed meeting all the cool families in your community. I just love this

NAMES
The goal of showing names is build interest that you might have something interesting to offer.  

What I am doing is showing everyone a super-cool learning system of books and


online services that many families have been getting to benefit their kids’ education.
You might even know some of the families who have been getting them. . . ​(SHOW

The  goal  of  talking  about  them  is  to  understand  their family’s situation and mindset about education. 
You will get understanding what to say or not say during the sales cycle.

SCHOOL IS ADVANCED AND THINGS HAVE CHANGED

Many of the moms like ​(LIST NAMES) tell me that what kids are learning in school
nowadays is so much more advanced than what parents did at that age. ​{Customer
name} said that their kids are already doing algebra in elementary school and
calculus in high school! ​(PAUSE) And, the way that the kids are learning it now is
different from how their parents learned it when they were growing up. So, when
parents sit down to help, they are getting confused and confusing their kids too!

DEMONSTRATION
The  goal  of  the demonstration is to present the benefits you talked about in the introduction. In demo 
your goal is to be more excited than other parts of the cycle. 

HOW THE SYSTEM LOOKS


Show  the  slick  with  all  4  advantage  books  so  she  gets  the  idea  of  the  set.  Also,  show  the  books  so 
Mom and kids can see it closely. 

Check this out. It's so cool! It combines books, apps and an interactive website. This
is just my sample. The basic set has 4 volumes about this size. The system covers
around 30 subjects from now all the way to college. The best way to show you how it
works is to start with Math.

MATH
So what it does: it takes all the problems and breaks them down step-by-
step-by-step and shows you how to solve it ​(SHOW PAGE 641)​.

Billy, (​ USE THE NAME OF THE KID) you know how the school textbook always gives like
2 easy examples. But, you never get stuck with easy problems. You get stuck with
the big ones and there are no examples for those, right? (PAUSE AND LISTEN) ​Check
​ ur books give you not only
this out! ​(BE EXCITED AND KEEP YOUR EYES IN THE BOOK!) O
1 or 2 easy ones (SHOW PAGES 638-639)​, ​but they give you 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11,
12, 13 ​(POINT OUT AND TURN PAGES AT THE SAME TIME) ​examples and covers also the
hard ones. ​That would be so helpful, wouldn’t it? ​(LET THE KID SPEAK)

Also, moms tell me whenever they try to help kids with homework, they can get the
right answer. But, kids say: “That’s not the way the teacher explained!? (PAUSE, WAIT
FOR RESPONSE)​. That’s pretty confusing, isn’t it? Well, this includes the parent`s
method and the new method to make it easier to understand (SHOW “TRY IT THIS
WAY”)​. Cool, right? ​(SMILE AND NOD) Moms tell me whatever takes the frustration
away is worth the investment.

DO THEIR PART)​. Check this out! You have a video with an actual tutor walking you
through the same problem step-by-step.

Looks good, right?​ (WAIT FOR AN AGREEMENT).

SS & LANGUAGE - HISTORY TIMELINES

And with History - what’s usually the hardest thing to ​memorize (USE THIS EXACT
WORD) ​in History? Dates, places and people, right? This saves a ton of time! For
example, when studying about the Civil War, ​(SHOW PAGES 118-123) the night before
a test, ​instead of reading through 50 pages, you can read a TIMELINE of all the
dates and battles just on few pages! And, just like with the math, if you type in the
page number, it pulls up articles and videos that go right along with the books, so
you understand better what you are learning. That would save time, wouldn’t it?

What did you like the best so far - the step-by-step or how it gives you many

SUMMARY
The  goal  of  the  summary  is  to explain everything that the system covers. You showed a small portion 
of  system  in  the  demo.  In  summary  you  are  explaining  that  there  are  way  more  helpful  parts  in  the 
system. 

So essentially what you have, Jennifer, is a complete educational system that covers
every school subject from where your kids are now all the way to college. It grows up
with them.

You get all the Math from Foundations, Numbers and Operations, Measurement to
advanced Math like Geometry, Trig and Calculus. Everything in science: Biology,
Chemistry, Earth Science, Ecology, Physics, Space Science. You also get Social
Studies and Language: from History, Government and Economics, all the way up to
Grammar, Writing and Literature and even 4 foreign languages: French, German,

These  two  questions  are  more like statements. It is not necessary to wait for an answer- if she agrees 


that’s great but do not make a long pause if she doesn’t say anything.

PRICE BUILD UP
When  you  tell  the  price  you  have  to  be  confident  that  this  is  a  good  deal.  If  the  price  seems high to 
you then it will seem high also to your prospect. Selling is a transfer of feelings.  

I think one of the biggest reasons I have been doing so well is the price. Of course,
good books are never cheap. Teachers ​(USE A NAME OF A TEACHER IF YOU HAVE) tell
me that even for one single subject textbook, like geometry, you would be paying
around 60 to 80 bucks. And here we have over 30 subjects.

(WRITE IT DOWN): So if you take 30 times $60 to $80, you would be looking at 1800
(SAY EIGHTEEN HUNDRED) to 2400 ​(TWENTY FOUR HUNDRED) bucks ​(BUCK = DOLLAR)​.
The reason why I’ve been doing so well is that instead of being 1800 or 2400 for the
set, it is only 549.70 (FIVE FORTY NINE SEVENTY)​!!! And, you can break it into smaller

Close  is  where  you  ask  people  to  buy.  You  do  that  through  several  small  steps.  It  is important to be 
assumptive  and  expect  her  to  buy.  Close  is  like  a  traffic  light.  You  go on with green and if you get a 
red  light,  then  don’t  push  to  get  to  the  next  step.  Stop.  There  is  an  objection  you  need  to  deal  with 
first. Once you have covered the objection then start the closing steps from the beginning. 

1. The Way I Do Business


What everybody likes about the way I do business is that I take orders today. So,
that way you can take care of your books in full or you have an option to break it into
payments. Having that option would make it easier, wouldn’t it?​ (NOD YOUR HEAD)

2. Direct To You
Another thing that everybody ​(YOU CAN SHOW NAMES FROM ORDER BOOK OR
CUSTOMER LIST) likes about the way I do business is that your books will be shipped

Picture time
I take fun pictures with all my cool customers ​(SHOW A FEW OF YOUR PICTURES​)​. Let’s

MOM/DAD ON THE PICTURE TOO). I usually add all the pictures to my Facebook so
people back home can see how much fun I am having. Is it ok if I add yours as well?

While  taking  the  picture  try  to  do  it  in  a  way  that  the family looks nice on the photo. If you make nice 
photos  then  people  are  more  willing  to  do  photo  with  you.  Most  people  care  how  they  look  on 

photos. Make them feel good.

SOLIDIFICATION
The  goal  of  solidification  is  avoid  buyer’s  remorse.  Dealing  with  cash  collection  can  bring  some 
hesitation  about  the  decision.  Do  a  very  excited  quick  demo  to  remind  what  a  cool  system  she 
decided to get.

the person was very negative or sceptical and did not open up at all. The goal of asking pre-approach 
is to find new prospects: where they are and when are they home. If a parent is in an open-minded 
mood, then you should always get pre-approach. It might seem like it is taking a lot of time, but it will 
save you time in the future by not talking to non-prospects. Work smart!

The other day I was wasting a lot of time knocking on doors because a lot
of moms are working. I know Mary is a working mom, so I met her after 5.
But Tina is a stay-at-home mom, so I was there during the day (GIVE TO GET

next door - should I catch her now or would she be a working mom? Thank

BIOLOGY - MITOSIS/MEIOSIS
Jennifer,​ you know, sometimes kids come home and have questions like ‘Mom,
what’s the difference between mitosis and meiosis in cell division?’ For most moms
it’s been a couple of years.

Check this out! (PAGES 58-59, VOLUME 3) It takes mitosis and meiosis and explains it
to the kids in a really easy way just on 2 pages! Wouldn’t that be useful a night
before a big test?

SS & LANGUAGE - PUNCTUATION:

Well, the rest of the set works the same way. For example, if one of the kids were to
ask, ‘Mom, do I use a comma, colon or semicolon with an adverbial clause? Most of
the moms tell me it has been years since they studied punctuation. Well, right here
on pages 988 and 989 is a practical Punctuation Review ​(POINT TO THE ADVERBIAL
CLAUSE)​. And on the next page (TURN TO PG. 990-991)​, are all of your different uses of
a comma! These sorts of day-to-day homework questions are exactly what these
study guides are designed for. Cool, isn’t it?
