GOAL 1: Expand and further my knowledge surrounding FNMI culture and

traditions.

1. TQS Focus: 5(a) understanding the historical, social, economic, and political
implications of:

• treaties and agreements with First Nations;

• legislation and agreements negotiated with Métis; and

• residential schools and their legacy

5(b) supporting student achievement by engaging in collaborative, whole school


approaches to capacity building in First Nations, Métis and Inuit education.

5(c) using the programs of study to provide opportunities for all students to
develop a knowledge and understanding of, and respect for, the histories,
cultures, languages, contributions, perspectives, experiences and contemporary
contexts of First Nations, Métis and Inuit.

Sub-goal 1: Become more confident speaking about FNMI content.

Measures: I hope have the foundational knowledge to be able to create multiple lessons containing
FNMI content, but I would like to successfully teach at least one lesson that includes FNMI
concepts. This can be seen through my lesson planning and progression.

GOAL 2: Develop more confidence teaching areas I am less familiar with.

 address the learning outcomes outlined in programs of study;


 foster student understanding of the link between the activity and the
intended learning outcomes

3(b) Using instructional strategies to engage students in meaningful learning


activities, based on:

 specialized knowledge of the subject areas they teach;


 an understanding of students’ backgrounds, prior knowledge and
experiences

3(e) Teachers engage in a range of planning activities.

Sub-goal 1: Have a full, well-rounded idea of the GLOs/SLOs that are required for the
specified program of studies.

lesson.

Sub-goal 1: Try to mentally balance the idea that I’m spending “too much time” on a
concept, as the purpose of school is students understanding what is learnt.
