RECYCLE OF CONSTRUCTION WASTE

ABSTRACT
The management of construction waste is important today. Construction waste
founds a major portion of total solid waste production in the world. C & D waste is
generated whenever any construction / demolition activity takes place such as
building road bridges etc. Hence appropriate management of this waste is required.
With an enormous increase in the quantity of disposable materials on one hand and
continuing shortage of dumping sites on the order the waste disposal is serious
problem at time.

Demolition materials from ware housing building industrial and agriculture faculties
may contaminated with chemical recycling of waste construction saver nature
resources saved energy reduces solid waste reduces air and water pollutants and
reduce gases.

The Construction industry van start being aware of and take advantage of the
benefits of using waste and recycle Material.

After adapting all the option all to prevent waste salvage and reduce materials the
next step is to recycle as much of the remaining debris as possible. The aim of this
analysis is to check the impact on minimize, reuse, Recycle and recovery on building
construction industry.

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Problem summary

The Waste Material Of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste site are
having disposals problem.Mostly it is used for the Land filling, but it is an alternative
Source Of reusing such construction materials.

In Past Decade construction industry in india has shown it's growth drastically
upward due to the development and redevelopment project in India

The construction and demolition waste is produced by refurbishment or

renovation of building. In India,, Construction and Demolition waste will increase day
by day with the development of the town and country. This, Construction and
demolition waste management should be study to finding problem solution of C&D
waste right Way.

Construction and Demolition Material is defined as a mixture of waste arising

from any excavation, building construction, site clearance, demolition activities, road
works house & building renovation.over 80% of C& D Material are inactive and are
further defined as public fill.public fill includes debris, rubble, earth and concrete
which are suitable for land reclamation and site formation.

1.3 Problem specification

✓This provide waste minimization benefits by avoiding the use of landfill space and
reducing resource consumption

√ Waste recycling can to a great extent reduce environment damages caused by

incorrect disposals extend the useful life of landfill and preserve precious finite
nature resources.

✓The demolition crushed brick and sanitary waste use for concrete.
RECYCLE OF CONSTRUCTION WASTE

Bricks

The Brick waste is generated is the form of bats and small pieces.while loading from
the manufacturing unit to the unloading at the site, there is possibility where the
bricks geet broken and turn into bats and the small pieces.

Crushed brick and roof tiles are demolition waste which now they can be recycled
into mortar plaster & building blocks.

Broken and discarded bricks can be used as construction infill or as Aggregate for
non-structural concrete.
RECYCLE OF CONSTRUCTION WASTE

Concrete
Concrete is a mixture of sand, cement, Aggregate, water & mixtures.during and after
the demolition of any concrete structure, the large quantity of demolition of
demolished concrete waste is given.

During and after the demolition of any concrete structure, the demolition concrete
waste is taken to a recycling plant and there crushed into the required sizes which is
called the recycled concrete Aggregate.

They are mainly dependent on nature for the course and fine Aggregate as well as
water for the chemical reaction with cement. .

Ceramics
Ceramic were included are tiles, washbasin, water closet, kitchen sink, etc.

If sanitary we're chipped otherwise damaged are advised to crush and use them as
construction infill as filter in concrete. Pozzolanic value of such crushed & powered
Sanitary we're is a desirable property in concrete mixes.

METHOD OF RECYCLING OF CONSTRUCTION WASTE

RECYCLE OF CONSTRUCTION WASTE

METHOD OF RECYCLING OF CONSTRUCTION WASTE

This literature is about a method for recycling concrete waste includes the steps of:
a) heating the concrete waste to provide a measure of fragility to the concrete waste;
b) milling and sieving the heated concrete waste to separate coarse aggregate from
the concrete waste; and c) milling and sieving a remaining portion of the concrete
waste remaining after separation of the coarse aggregate to separate the remaining
portion of the concrete waste into a cement-containing fraction and fine aggregate.

Concrete is primarily composed of cement, coarse Aggregate (such as gravel),and fine

Aggregate .The cement clinker is mixed with water to form a cement paste which
bonds with the course and fine Aggregate as the cement solidified due to the
hydration reaction between the cement and water. Therefore, a variety of
constructional structure, such as floors, wall slabs, and the like, can be built thereby.

When the structure are torn down, concrete waste is required to be processed so as
to avoid causing an environmental pollution problem. Conventionally, the concrete
waste is crushed and milled directly, and is then sieved to separate and recover the
Aggregate from cement lumps. However, since the recovered Aggregate may have

cement adhered there on,the value for reusing the Aggregate is lowered.
Additionally, the recovered cement lumps cannot be reused.

2. Recycled rubber construction materials

The present Invention broadly comprises a construction from a plurality of flexible

strips, the strips are helically wound upon one another to form a tire pole. The tire pole
may incorporate bolts, nails, screws and polymers for securing the flexible strips to
one another. The construction materials is generally constructed from discarded tires
and may comprise a utility pole,a guardrail,a signpost and may be suitable for many
other construction applications.

Industrialized,as well as development nations, currently face enormous solid waste

disposals problem. Additionally,as technological advances lead to increase individual
wealth and a greater distribution of wealth among a larger populace, more and more
people are likely to increase their consumption of energy and consumer goods,in
effect, increasing their production of solid waste. Method of addressing solid waste
disposals issues typically take the form of the cliched mantra,,
Reduce, reuse, recycle,As the well knows saying indicates, individuals can reduce the
solid waste burden by 1) reducing there use of goods and services 2) reusing products
more than once before being finally disposed.3) recycling old products into new
products. However ,While the amount of raw material required for the manufacture of
many consumer products can be reduced and some consumer products, for instance:
aluminum cans, plastic bottles, paper and cardboard, are easily reuse or recycled that
represents an enormous solid waste disposals problem is discarded automobile and
truck tires.

A construction materials comparising a plurality of flexible strips, the strips are

helically wound upon one another to form a substantially cylinderical tire pole, which
may have a circular,sqare, rectangle,etc.cross-sectional shape.Tbe tire pole includes
means for securing the flexible strips to one another. The Construction. Material is
generally a construction from discarded tires and may comprises a utility pole,a
guardrail,a signpost and may be suitable for many other construction Applications.

3. Method for recycling construction and demolition fines

The method for recycling construction and demolition fines involves using mixed
fines from construction and demolition debris that would otherwise be disposed of at
landfills as an ingredient in cement or concrete. The mixed fines contain a plurality of
materials selected from the group consisting of asphalt, plastics, ceramics, fiberglass
and batt insulation, soil, dust, drywall, wood, plaster, paper, cardboard, dirt. The
fines may also contain particles of recyclable materials, such as concrete, bricks,
mortar, metals, glass, and the like. The fines may range in size from microns up to 6
inches in at least one direction. The recycler may incorporate the fines into a
concrete mix for bulk sale to commercial enterprises, or may himself form precast,
lightweight concrete products, such as decorative columns, pedestals and table
bases, trim moldings and cornices, door surrounds, etc.

The only current uses for C&D debris fines are limited to alternative daily cover (ADC)
for landfills, soil beds or road beds, earth engineering uses, and the like. Even use for
these purposes is sometimes problematical. For example, it has been estimate that
C&D debris fines contain about 20% drywall by weight. Drywall contains gypsum
(calcium sulphate), which is often converted to hydrogen sulphate when used as ADC
in landfills. The resulting odor, similar to rotten eggs, is noxious, and in high enough
concentrations, may leach into the soil and underground water, potentially posing a
health hazard or damaging nearby crops or vegetation.

The method for recycling construction and demolition fines involves using mixed
fines from construction and demolition debris that would otherwise be disposed of at
landfills as an ingredient in cement or concrete. The mixed fines contain a plurality of
materials selected from the group consisting of asphalt, plastics, ceramics, fiberglass
and batt insulation, soil, dust, drywall, wood, plaster, paper, cardboard, and dirt. The
fines may also contain particles of recyclable materials, such as concrete, bricks,
mortar, metals, glass, and the like. The fines may range in size from microns up to 6
inches in at least one direction. The recycler may incorporate the fines into a dry
cement mix for bulk sale to commercial enterprises, or may himself form precast,
lightweight concrete products, such as decorative columns, pedestals and table
bases, trim moldings and cornices, door surrounds, etc.

4. Waste concrete recycling trough

The washing-out trough (10) recycles waste concrete, being of semi-circular internal
cross-section at the bottom (12). A first rotary conveyor (16) delivers from the front
to the rear of the trough, in which a water inlet and outlet are respectively situated.
A second rotary conveyor (30) in the rear part of the trough is coaxial to the first,
there being a transverse partition (24) between them. A conveyor discharges the
cleaned sand and gravel from the rear part of the trough. The partition is permeable
to sand and gravel and other granular ingredients of the waste concrete, and
accommodates a bearing for the first conveyor. The discharge conveyor is of the
auger type, with spiral blades on a driven rotary shaft, whose bearings are outside
the receiving area for material handles.

Reprocessing of unused residual amounts concrete in concrete manufacturing or

transporting Betrie ben is necessary for reasons of environmental protection
increasingly. Moreover, brings a re-preparation processing and economic advantages,
since that can be used as a residual concrete in falling ingredients in the production
of new concrete agains konnen.

The semi-circular in it's lower region trough is divided by a transverse wall in a

first, larger prewash and in a second, smaller Nachwaschkammer. In The first chamber
the residual concrete is inputting and transported by means of a transport screws in
the direction towards the transverse wall, where in concrete is freed from the
adhering to him cement components.

5. Method for separation of construction waste

Disclosed here in a Method For Separation of Construction Waste. In the World,The
Construction Waste , Crushed to a predetermined size, is Added to liquid in a
precipitation tank and Separated into components in the tank according to specific
gravity, in which the liquid has a reference specific gravity lower than that of a
components to be recovered but higher than that of the remaining components, to
be recovered is saparated by precipitation of the bottom of precipitation tank.
According to the method, High-quality Recyclable aggregate contained in the
Construction Waste can be easily saparated from other impurities through a simple
process.Particularly ,The reference specific gravity of the Saparation liquid is suitable
adjusted so that the Recyclable aggregate can be easily saparated even from
impurities (tiles, red brick, concrete) hevier than water , unlike the period of
Saparation process using an areated water tank.

Recently,as the redevelopment of urban areas and the large-scale amount

reconstruction of dilapidated

Apartment are actively conducted,a large amount of Construction Waste is

Generated every year, aand it is expected that the generation of such Construction
Waste will further increase in the future.

However ,such Construction Waste is mostly buried in theground without being

treated or is thrown away, which causes sever soil contaimination. For this reason,
Various attempts to Recycle the Construction Waste are currently being made ,but
the proportionof Construction Waste being recycled is very insignificant,,so that only
a small amount of the Construction Waste is recycled as Material or filler for forming
roadbeds in road construction.

1. Materials or tools required

There are three types of common C& D waste material at construction site
which is recycle aggregate wood and brick wall

Recycle aggregate
Recycle aggregate is provide by crushing concrete and sometimes
asphalt to reclaim the aggregate. Aggregate consists of hard graduated
pieces of inert mineral including sand gravel crushed stone slag or rock
dust. Recycled Aggregate can be used for many purpose. The Primary
market is road base.

Wood
The primary constituents of providing wood construction and demolition
clearing and grubbing activity and other debris from suturing for
framework activity.

Drywall
Drywall made of a sheet of gypsum covered on both sides with a paper
facing and a paperboard backing. Drywall is also referred to as gypsum
board wallboard plasterboard and rock gypsum is calcium sulphate.

Dehydrate(caSo4 2H2O),a naturally occurring mineral that is mined in

Procedure: Compressive Strength Test of Concrete Cubes

For cube test two types of specimens either cubes 15cm x 15cm x 15cm Or 10cm x
10cm x 10cm depending upon the size of aggregate are used. For most of the works
cubical moulds of size 15cm x 15cm x 15cm are Commonly used.

Building Demolition Project, Approximately The Entire Building Structure Including

The Substructure And External Landscape Will become Demolition Waste. This Is 10-
20 times by weight of the waste Generated From the Construction of new
building. The waste usually consists of High Percentage of indrt Materials Such As
Bricks,Sand And Concrete. If This huge quantity of Demolition debris the is not
properly managed for reuse or recycling. It would surely Further aggravate the landfill
shortage problem or serverly shorten the life of the public Filling Areas.

The characteristics of The Demolition waste may vary depending on the types of
structure demolished and the Demolition technique used. The success of waste
Separation is highly dependent on the Demolition technique used.

The concept of Reduce,Reuse, And Recycle Particularly in the context of constitution

andconsumption is well known today. It is Something like Using Recyclable Materials
is more than Actual practice, Reusing of Raw Materials if possible and Reducing use
of resources and energy. These can be applied to the entire life cycles of product and
services starting from design and extraction of Raw Materials to transport,
Manufacture and Disposal can be expressed as:
RECYCLE OF CONSTRUCTION WASTE

Reduce:- Eliminating the generation of Waste, Where possible by stopping it

Comming on to site in the first place..

Reuse:- Making use of Materials in their original state on the same site or at
other sites.

Recycle:- Turning Materials into new Product For Other Purposes.
