Pedagogy Planning

In this activity, my students are going to use Glogster to create a poster to use descriptive
language to describe their favorite animal.

The goal of this lesson is to teach the students to actively use descriptive language. Most likely, they use
descriptive language without realizing that the word choices they make explain how they feel or view
something. It is then important that they learn to take the words they use and form them into a structured
sentence.

Pedagogy
According to the SOL standards, students should be able to add
descriptive words when writing. This activity will encourage students
to think and write descriptively. Class will begin by the teacher
explaining that adjectives are descriptive words. The teacher will then
show the students examples of descriptive words and complete
sentences including descriptive words. The students will then use
https://edu.glogster.com to create a poster describing their favorite
animal. This will allow them to use descriptive language in real world
application. The students are required to use five descriptive words
and write one sentence. The format of the poster is up to their
creativity, but they must include the following:
 A title that states what their favorite animal is.
 Five words that describe the animal.
 One sentence including one of the words.

 A picture of their favorite animal.

3. At the top, right hand side of the screen, select Log In.

4. Username: khuer

5. Once you are logged in, click on the green button at the top of
the page that says CREATE NEW GLOG.

6. Under create new glog select Blank Landscape.

7. At the top, left side of the screen select Text.

8. Select heading.
9. The text box will say “add your text.” Double click in the text
box and highlight “add you text.” Then press the backspace
button on your computer.
10. Next, type in the name of your favorite animal and your name.
11. You can change the color of the text by selecting the black box
at the top of the screen and picking a color you like.

12. Move the text box to the top of the screen by clicking on it and
dragging it into place.
13. Select Text again and choose a speech bubble.

14. Type in 5 descriptive words about your favorite animal

(Remember to: Double click in the text box and highlight “add
you text.” Then press the backspace button on your
computer).
15. Select Text again and choose a speech bubble.
16. In this speech bubble, type one complete sentence using one
of the descriptive words.
17. Add a picture of your favorite animal!
18. Go to Google in A NEW TAB and type in the name of your
favorite animal in the search bar and click search.

19. At the top of the screen select Images.

20. Find one you like and RIGHT CLICK it. Then select SAVE TO
DOWNLOADS from the options.

21. Close the google tab and go back to Glogster.

22. Select IMAGE at the top of the screen. Add downloaded image
from files on computer and then select add image.

23. Drag and drop items on the screen to where you want them to
go.
24. Look around in the graphics tab. You can insert a fun image if
you want.
 25. When you are done, select the X in the top right corner.

26. Name your Glog with the name of your favorite animal
followed by your name and select save.

27. Click return to dashboard and then close the page.
