Dry galleys are mainly used to store the trolleys and
to keep foods and drinks.

WET GALLEYS

The wet galleys are connected to :

- the water and waste system,
- the air extraction system,
- the main air cabin ventilation system,
- the electrical power system.

GALLEYS COOLING

At most galley locations, chilled air systems are used

to cool the meal trolleys.
The freon cooling system requires special servicing.

GENERAL EMERGENCY EXIT SLIDE

Escape facilities are provided for passenger and crew The two emergency exits of each side are equipped with
evacuation. a dual lane offwing escape slide.
They are located in the cockpit and in the cabin. The four emergency exits provide quick evacuation for
the passengers. The dual lane escape slide operates

In case of emergency evacuation, there are two
possibilities for the flight crew to evacuate the
cockpit.
The simplest emergency evacuation procedure for the
flight crew is to go through the cockpit door and use
the passenger door slide.
If necessary a secondary means enables the flight crew

A lighting system is fitted along both sides and at

the bottom of the slide.

The lights automatically come on during the slide

deployment. They remain on as long as the emergency
power supply operates.

A reentry strap is fixed on one side of the slide.

A yellow life line is fixed along the outside of the

The disconnect handle and a knife are located on the

girt extension close to the door step.

The knife is on the left hand side in a clearly marked

pouch.

A disconnect handle is located under a velcro flap

marked "FOR DITCHING USE".

To release the slide, lift the flap, grasp the white

handle and pull. Should the slide not drop immediately,
push down on the girt extension.

The daisy-chain on the packboard releases, and the

slide is free to drop.

The slide remains attached to the aircraft by means

of a mooring line.

This line must be cut by means of the hook knife.

MANUAL RELEASE HANDLES

In case of failure the slide can be released manually

with the manual release handles, via the catch lever.
The release lever is operated by the latch pin in armed
position, upon inward removal of the hatch.
This movement, via the shaft, rod, spring rod, and
double lever, pulls the release cable.

TRANSPORT COMPONENTS

BALL MATS
The ball mats are installed in the door area in the
FWD and AFT compartments.
The ball mats extend across the full length of the FWD
and AFT compartments.
They are used to change the direction of the Unit Load
Devices (ULDs) during loading and unloading
operations.

ROLLER TRACKS
The roller tracks are installed on the centerline of
the FWD and AFT cargo compartment floors.
Each roller track is fitted with rollers which permit
ULDs to move in the longitudinal direction.

POWER DRIVE UNITS (PDUs)

The Power Drive Units are installed in the FWD and AFT
cargo compartments for lateral and longitudinal
movements.
There is one PDU for lateral movement on each ball mat
area, three PDUs for longitudinal movement on the
roller track of the FWD cargo compartment, and four
PDUs for longitudinal movement on the roller track of
the AFT cargo compartment.
The PDUs operate with 115 VAC, 400 HZ, and have a

For the manual cargo loading, the compartment

preparation is the same as that for cargo loading with
the automatic system. The containers are pushed by
hand instead of using the PDUs.

MANUAL UNLOADING

For manual unloading, lower the two manual sill

hand instead of using the PDUs.
At the end of the manual unloading, do not forget to
release the overridable sill latches by pushing the
