Burning House
Burning House
Introduction
● Bubblewrap, because air gaps in bubbles filled with air, a good insulator.
● Foil, because shiny materials reflect heat energy back towards beaker.
● Tape, which is made of plastic, helps restrict heat energy from escaping.
● Thermometer, so we can measure temperature of the water.
● Corrugated Cardboard, representing the walls and traps air in the gaps in between two layers of cardboard.
● Cotton wool, because fibers trap air, and doesn’t allow energy through well.
● Glass beaker, to store water in, without it spilling out, also glass is good insulator.
Results 12.12. 2018
In the beaker
(i-o)
1. Foil paper
2. Cotton wool
3. Boblerap
4. Tape
In the box
(i-o)
1. cotton wool
2. Foil paper
3. More cotton
wool
4. Then more foil
paper
Conclusion
The material that provided the best insulation was the foil. The
results prove the hypothesis to be incorrect. Our hypothesis was
that the bubble wrap was going to be the best insulator.
the bubble rap did prove to be the second-best insulator.
Improvements and problem
What Improvements we can make
1. Add more materials that is good insulators.
2. The amount of water (different)
3. We can make sure the
What problem we could not fixed
1. In the second test the water accidentally fell out a little bit so the cotton wool was
wet.
2. The foil paper has been changing color after heat pass through
