Lesson: Practice talking about personality
I. Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to
+ use some lexical items to talk about personality
+ watching a short film and speaking
+ practice predicting skill: predict the ending of a film
II. Teaching aids:
- Stereo, Projector, short film
III. Methods:
- The whole lesson: Integrated, mainly communicative.
IV. Procedure

Time/Stages Activities Interactions
1.New lesson Activity 1: Review adjectives to describe people
7 minutes -Ss work in 6 groups matching adjectives with the
pictures. Group work
Each group has a set of cards and a set of pictures
numbered from 1 to 12. They match the each card with
one picture.
-T can give help by explaining words in cards, but not
words in pictures so that Ss can practice guessing words
basing on the context.
Vocabulary: (optional)
mean (a) unkind, don’t want to give or share things, not
generous.

3 minutes
patient (a) If you have a problem but you don’t quit, you
whole class
wait or take a break then you try to do it again and again.
(kiên nhẫn)
jealous (a) If your boyfriend talks and plays a lot with
another girl, not you, you may feel jealous. You want him
to talk with only you. (ghen tuông, ghen tị)
honest (a) tell the truth, no cheating (chân thật)
sociable (a) friendly, want to make a lot of friends (hòa
đồng, thích kết bạn)
vain (a) think that he is so good but it’s not (kiêu ngạo, hão
huyền)
To describe teenagers:
Identity-seeking, Mischievous, Loud, Uncertain, Tired,
Stressed, Insecure, Hormonal, Emotional, Silent, Lost,
Studious, Arrogant, Rebellious, Awkward, Curious,
adventurous, sulky, independent, stubborn...
Activity 2: Find the opposites for the adjectives
-3 groups try to list as many positive adjectives as possible
and the other 3 groups try to list as many negative
5 minutes adjectives as possible in 3 minutes.
-T asks Ss to speak out positive words and find the group work
suitable opposites for them.
-T selects some good words to add to the table.
-T asks the whole class words to describe teenagers, then
write on the board and give more explanations.
2nd time-T shows the film until 02:41 again. Ask them to
summarise the story the film tells.
Suggested answer:
5 minutes There is a boy playing games at home alone. His mother individual
comes back home after work and gives him a present. whole class
She tells him to stop playing games and check out the
present. It’s a dog in a box. At first he likes he dog but
he then throws it down on the floor because the dog has
lost 1 leg. Then he sees that the dog is very active and
funny when it plays with the ball.
2 minutes -T asks Ss to predict the rest of the film.
-T may write some predictions on the board for Ss to whole class
compare later.
Activity 4: Discussion
T asks Ss to discuss in 6 groups questions:
1. Is the ending surprising? (yes, the boy changes his
mind, he starts to like the dog)
2. How does the film make you feel? (happy, the boy Group work
and the dog play together happily, they forget about whole class
5 minutes their difficulties)
3. Do you have different opinion on the boy’s
character when you see the whole film? (yes, he is
kind and he needs friends)
4. Does the film have a message?
(-teenagers may get sad because of many reasons
but they should love their lives and make them
meaningful and beautiful with the small and simple
things like the dog in the film
-go play outside more, it makes you healthier and
help you make real friends, do not play games too
much)
3. - Ask Ss to consolidate the main contents.
Consolidation - Give feedback. T <--> Ss

4. Homework Imagine that you are the boy in the story, retell the story.
1 minute Write the story in a piece of paper and submit it on T <--> Ss
Thursday.
V. Review
