Philosophy Statement Amanda Rose
Great after school programs play an important part in our children’s lives. A great program has
qualified, caring, knowledgeable staff, and a neutral place to hold care. We want our children to
have a fun, safe, environment to go to after school. They should not feel pressured or bullied
once they get to care. They should be comfortable with staff so they can let them know when
something is not going right, ask for help. They should WANT to come to after school! In this
type of setting each child will learn and have fun all while feeling safe. The staff should be role
models for the children. We all have had that one person/teacher that made a difference in our
lives. I want to be that person for someone now. We can make a difference in their lives,
showing them it’s fun to learn, try new things, and think outside of our box.
I want each child to want to come to our program. I don’t want them to feel like it’s boring, or
no one likes them. If they are struggling with academics or friends, I want them to come to me,
feel safe in asking for help. We will fix it without judging. There is nothing more satisfying than
helping a child and seeing a good outcome. If its academics, seeing their face once they
understand what it is there were just struggling with is the greatest feeling. I love watching
them conquer their fears and problems.
At the end of the year, getting letters or verbal compliments from the parents. Hearing that
their child LOVED the program and that they will be back next year! I also love watching the
kids not want to go home when the parents come to pick them up. That shows me I have done
my job!
