1 My Time in Ontario by Yeonwoo

2 I am from Korea and have some experience working with hotels and tours. I want
3 to know more about hospitality and tourism. And, I want to improve my English. That is
4 why I am studying hospitality and doing it at an English-speaking college.
5 I live in Mississauga and want to go to Sheridan College, but they do not have a
6 hospitality program. I have to go to Humber College in Toronto. It is a longer distance to
7 travel. I do not have a car. I have to take Mississauga buses and Toronto buses to get to
8 the college. That takes too much time. I am not happy about that.
9 This month we are learning about how to run a hotel. We want to learn about how
10 to run a restaurant because we are all crazy about food. But we have no choice. There is
11 no restaurant course this month. The restaurant course does not start until next month.
12 We have to keep doing homework about hotels for the next two weeks.
13 I love food. During our lunch break, I try to make good choices about what I eat.
14 Other people have burgers and fries. That makes me sick. I eat rice, vegetables, and sushi.
15 As a result, I am healthy.
16 Every afternoon, we talk about tourism including places to go in Mississauga. There
17 is an interesting show playing at the Living Arts Centre. I saved all my money to go. I want
18 to get a good seat. The tickets are selling fast. I should buy my ticket immediately but I
19 have a problem. My phone is in the repair shop and I can’t get it until tomorrow. I am
20 getting really anxious about getting a good seat.
21 Studying takes all my evenings during the week. Sometimes when I am studying I
22 dream about going out and partying. But I study every evening. I am getting good marks.
23 That will help me when I look for a job.
24 My classmates are becoming great friends. On the weekends, we get together for
25 fun. We are always looking for free stuff to do: riding our bicycles in the parks; going to
26 community festivals; or watching an outdoor play by the lake. We are students so we
27 have to be careful with our money. That concert with Ariana Grande is too expensive. We
28 would all go but we don’t have the money.
29 I have to start thinking about finishing my program this summer.
30 I am in Canada on a student visa and cannot work a lot. I know people who are
31 permanent residents. That’s better. I dream about staying in Canada.
