been established to maintain quality of service to the learners. The mechanism ensures
continuous improvement in the operations of teaching- learning process as well as the delivery
of services to the students. Quality assurance and achievement of expected outcomes is
achieved by:-

Internal inputs:
• Annual internal audit of the academic unit which includes teaching-learning,
curriculum/syllabus, learning outcomes, evaluation processes, facilities, student
progression and support, governance and best practices.

13
• Real-time monitoring of the support services and assessment and evaluation
processes, adherence to SLA metrices etc. and making necessary amendments
whenever required.

External inputs:

• Feedback on the relevance and currency of the program and the content from
industry experts. Based on these inputs, necessary updates in the curriculum is
done.
• Satisfaction survey after each contact class/webinar conducted.
• Feedback from students through surveys or emails, is communicated to faculty to
identify any areas for improvement.
• Online Helpdesk for capturing and responding to student queries/and grievances.
• Surveys are conducted for assessing student overall satisfaction.
• The inputs from the surveys/ tickets/ grievance redressal mechanism is analysed
real time and prioritized. The actionable points are distributed to all stakeholders
to action on and implement.

9.2 Assessment of Learning Outcomes

For each of the Programs run by UPES, we have defined Learning Outcomes or Program Outcomes in
line with the statutory Bodies NAAC and NBA. Each Program has a set of Learning/Program Outcomes
some of which are common across all the Programs of a School and some of which are specific to each
Program of the School.

These Program Outcomes are assessed through Course Outcomes specified for each Course of
a Program. For each Course, the teacher teaching that Course specifies 4-6 Course Outcomes
with the complexity levels as defined in Blooms Taxonomy. Based on the performance of the
previous batch being taught the same Course, the teacher fixes the target levels for each Course
and the defined Course Outcomes are assessed through Continuous as well as End Term
Examination evaluations. Based on the Assessment of these Course Outcomes, the Direct
Assessment of Program Outcomes is carried out. In addition, an Exit Survey of the graduating
students, feedback from employers etc. is carried out to have the indirect Assessment of the
Program Outcomes. Both Direct and Indirect Assessments are added together to have the final
Assessment. If the targets are not met or very easily met etc., the teacher concerned suggests
the strategies to improve the target assessment or sets up higher targets respectively.

9.3 Establishment of Center for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA):

As per the recommendations made in the University Grants Commission (Open and Distance
Learning) Regulations, 2017, the University proposes to formally constitute the CIQA. The
mandate of the CIQA would be in line with the recommendations outlined in the regulations.
and centralise all quality control processes under it.
