Graphic Organizer Directions

Student Learning Objectives:

 In groups, student will create a model of the energy transfer in photosynthesis and
cellular respiration
 Students will produce a model of the carbon cycle.

View the following video clips on the Carbon Cycle:

After viewing the video clips, model the carbon cycle in your graphic organizer. Be sure to
include the four areas where Carbon is found on our Earth as outlined in the video clips and what
state Carbon is found in at each of the four areas.

After viewing the video clips, fill out the second graphic organizer for the model of
Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration. Be sure to include how energy enters and leaves the
system, where photosynthesis and cellular respiration take place, the organic molecules involved
in the correct position in the cycle.

After you have constructed your own models of the Carbon Cycle and Cellular Respiration and
Photosynthesis have a seat at your lab station. Compare and contrast your graphic organizer
models to your lab partners models and make a poster of each model. Hang in the hallway and
walk around to do a gallery walk of each poster presentation. Make any changes to your graphic
organizer that you’d like before turning in.
