THE

RIBBON SERIES

While some of you choose to express your views through words or

pictures, some choose ribbons! It all started with a song from the
70s about a yellow ribbon wrapped around a tree. A single ribbon
has the gift of conveying an important message. A single ribbon
serves as a medium. From cancer to abuse, all of these issues can
be raised using ribbons. Every colour is symbolic of an individual
health condition, disorder or cause.

Unfortunately, we do not live in an ideal world. An ideal world
where evil, misery, hate, war or diseases don't exist. Sadly,
perfection is something that we can never achieve. Only in a world
of imperfection, we are able to strive for something bigger and
better. We can strive to win this battle against cancer and
disorders.

We can only achieve this by first - taking the initiative. Start off with
something small. A great number of you would have surely seen the
LIVESTRONG bracelet. Did you know it was Lance Armstrong, the
cyclist, who established this foundation to support cancer patients?
Just like that, start off with a ribbon. Doing that is enough to raise
awareness. People will be curious enough to find out the reason
behind wearing it. Wearing this is a way of extending your hand to
loved ones and to all the people suffering.

The aim of "The Ribbon Series" is to bring about knowledge on
several issues. Without basic knowledge, it is difficult to detect if
something is happening to you or your loved ones. The aim of this
series is to create awareness, provide comfort and fight stigma. It's
always good to start by educating yourself before educating others.
It is important to see the person and not the condition.
We should be allowed to take a stand. We should be allowed to
fight. We should be allowed to educate, advocate and inspire
everyone to fight and find a cure. It's time to finally take some
action!

Stay tuned for more on "The Ribbon Series". Just remember EVERY
DROP IN THE OCEAN COUNTS.
