Activities we did this week:

This week I have been tasked with starting my Target Audience page. Within
the Target Audience, there is a lot of primary and secondary research that has to be
done, with many survey having to be sent out as well. At the start of the week we
had to create a short plan for our topic research and then a plan for our codes and
conventions. With the topic research, we had to send out a survey to help with the
further development of our idea, and this would be assisted by focus groups. With
topic research Jordan and I researched on a host of things which ranged from
alcoholism and secret special services. We also looked into things connected to
these two main topics. Jordan focused on Future technology that is being
developed which we can use in our films. He found things on development on
medical micro bots which can heal people’s bodies through the injection of these
healing micro bots. We also both looked into Special Forces units, focusing heavily
on the SBS, SAS and special secret British unit called ‘The Increment’. I then also
looked into secret surveillance units such as ‘The UKN’. I also began to try and begin
to set up an interview for further primary research into alcoholism. I plan to talk to a
close family friend of mine about his journey through substance abuse and
alcoholism and how he got through this dark phase of his life. I hope this interview to
give Jordan and I a more accurate and more personal insight into what our main
character should be.

Problems I had to deal with:

Like last week there were not many replies on my surveys which meant that I
did not have a lot of data to work with. However despite this, we did manage to
have two focus groups which meant we could get a targeted response from our
chosen age bracket. This meant that from the mix of surveys, primary/secondary
research and two focus groups. Jordan and I were able to create a developed idea
that we could use to further our production. I also planned to confirm the location
for our main bar fight scene that Jordan and I were very keen on filming. However
when calling the pub that we wanted I was unsuccessful in reaching them. This
means that I will have to go down personally to try and confirm this location.
However I have had tried to find other locations in the meantime with local pubs;
such as “The Anchor” in Henley-on-Thames, and “The Red Lion” in Beaconsfield. Both
of these pubs are easy to get to, with one being very close to The Henley College
and the other being very close to my home. These will be pubs that I will go to as
contingencies, should the “The Anchor” fall through.

Next week I plan to start my codes and conventions and also try to contact the pub
location.
