Waking up on the Farm 
Directions: Read the story and circle all the examples of personification.  

Every morning, the rude rooster wakes up all the farm 
animals. The donkey yells angrily and the horses neigh 
in protest. The sun says, “Good morning” to the 
stretching cat. The chickens gleefully peck the ground. 
The gentle summer breeze brushes the fur out of the sheepdog’s face. 
On the other side of the farm, the corn and wheat stretch as the 
motherly sun kisses them. Inside the house, the sun peaks through the 
cracks of the blinds, gently waking the farmer.
