easier, especially since all of our test and quizzes are given online. I personally have not
witnessed a student cheating using technology in my classroom; however, another teacher I work
with caught one of her students cheating during a social studies test. For science and social
studies, all of our notes were on google slides. So the teacher caught a student with his notes up
while taking the test. Once she discovered this, she immediately took his Chromebook, and made
him call his mother to tell him what he had done. He was given silent lunch, no recess, had to
retake the test with paper and pencil, and his Chromebook privileges were taken for 2 weeks.
Incidents like this happen for several reasons. First, as I previously stated, all of our test
and quizzes have to be done online through a program called Mastery Connect. Mastery Connect
is great because it shows us how many students missed each question, etc. However, the
questions can’t be put in random order. This makes it easier for students to cheat. To prevent
other students cheating off one another, the teacher can give students cover folders or position
students in ways were it is hard to see each others screens. Another problem is our notes as well
as “google” is easily available to students. This makes it easier to cheat than paper and pencil
test. One way to prevent students from using these things to assist them during test is for teachers
to constantly be walking around monitoring during test. Finally, if a student is caught cheating, I
think it is important for other students to know their consequences. This way other students are
fearful of the consequences that occur when you cheat. There are other ways to prevent cheating
that were discussed in the slides; however, sometimes they aren’t easily done. For example,
