Teaching Major: Elementary Education (K-6)

VIDEO 1
Curriculum Framework Content Name: Kindergarten
Curriculum Framework Content Number: RF.K.1.D
Curriculum Framework Content Description: Recognize and name all upper and lowercase
letters of the alphabet.

Implementation Narrative:
I will use this video with my teaching major, Elementary Education, to teach letter names and
sounds to a kindergarten class. I will play this video daily to develop routine and recognition of
each letter. Not only does this video discuss each letter and it’s name, but it also discusses the
sounds of each letter. Letter-name correspondence is an important skill that must be mastered
by the end of kindergarten to be proficient. Implementing this video into the daily routine in the
class will cause the students to become more familiar with the alphabet, what it looks like, and
how it sounds. It also engages the students through singing and listening. Engaging students in
multiple ways is important because more students will be interested and more apt to participate.

VIDEO 2
Curriculum Framework Content Name: Sixth Grade
Curriculum Framework Content Number: 6-ESS2-4
Curriculum Framework Content Description: Develop a model to describe the cycling of
water through Earth’s systems driven by energy from the sun and the force of gravity
Implementation Narrative:
I will use this video with my teaching major, Elementary Education, at the beginning of a unit on
weather and the water cycle. This would be a great resource for activating the students’
schemas at the beginning of the unit. It introduces the idea of the water cycle, highlights
important aspects of it, and engages the students with a rap that they would be interested in and
remember. At the end of the unit I would tie this video back into the instruction by having the
students create a rap or a video about the water cycle and weather. This video would need to
include all that they learned through investigations within the unit. In this video, they would also
be instructed to create a model replica of the water cycle and feature it in their video.
