Data Collection reflection:

Learning how to document goniometry measurements and manual muscle testing grades are
very important skills to have as a PTA in order to monitor patient progress. Although important, I did not
enjoy learning how to do goniometry and manual muscle testing as much as I did learning about special
tests. Special tests are used to rule in or rule out specific musculoskeletal disorders. Even though PTA’s
are not legally allowed to administer special tests because we are not qualified to diagnose, I learned a
little bit about the process that physical therapists go through when doing an initial examination.
