Introduction/History of song

White Oak is a product produced by the Angostura Company in

Trinidad and Tobago which exports internationally. Currently the
leading standard rum brand in Trinidad and St. Vincent, White Oak
remains one of the flagship products of Angostura's impressive rum
portfolio. In 2003, Angostura decided to make an advertisement for this
rum and because it was as successful, they released a remake of the
song in 2013 (version analysed below) with very little changes.

Socio cultural Significance

This commercial affected the company in a positive way which
might explain why this rum is in a higher demand than before. From
immense research, I discovered that Angostura is in the process of
installing two new factories; one in Point-Fortain and one in
Scarborough, because of the great demand. These factories will
produce White Oak as well as Black and White (another Angostura
rum). It was a good decision for the company to use Soca music to
promote this product because usually adults show more interest in this
type music another reason why is was a good idea to use Soca is that it
is mostly used for partying and they used it in the commercial to show
that the people are having a good time.
