A. Write down the meaning and compose two sentences for each of the
following word.
1. Deadlock: a situation, typically one involving opposing parties, in which no progress can be made.
i. The fight between the players ended with a deadlock.

At the end it became a deadlock that the game had to be stopped.
2. Defensive: used or intended to defend or protect.
i. He was so defensive when it comes to his father.
ii. She becomes very defensive, when he tells her to leave her job.
3. Decline: politely refuse (an invitation or offer).
i. He declined the job offer even though they claimed to pay him well.
ii. She declined the opportunity to meet her family.
4. Defer: to delay or postpone.
i. Her defer created a huge loss to the company.
ii. His bathing time defers if he plays before going to bath.
5. Delegate: a person sent or authorized to represent others, in particular an elected
representative sent to a conference.
i. The delegates of that party declined to show up to the meeting.
ii. All the delegates are requested to leave the hall.
6. Demoralize: cause (someone) to lose confidence or hope.
i. He demoralized himself for an unworthy reason.
ii. He became demoralized after the scolding of his parents.
7. Denial: the action of denying something.
i. Denial plays a very important role in our life.
ii. Sometimes denial is the best option one could take.
8. Deprive: prevent (a person or place) from having or using something.
i. He got deprived by his parents for his own goodness.
ii. She did not understand why she got sleep deprived.
9. Detach: disengage (something or part of something) and remove it.
i. He detached the cable from the landline.
ii. She got herself detached from the belief of god.
10. Dicey: unpredictable and potentially dangerous.
i. She was so dicey on her next move.
ii. Cyanide is a dicey in terms of human health.

B. Write down any 10 new words you have learned from alphabetic series
“B” and compose a sentence on each word.

1. Backlash: There was a public backlash against rape.


2. Bait: She kept her children as bait.

3. Bale: There was a huge bale on her table.

4. Baize: The baize colour of the table was so good.

5. Bandit: A bandit attacked the bank.

6. Baton: As he raised his baton the orchestra started playing.

7. Bayonet: The policemen stabbed the thief with his bayonet in order to save the child.

8. Bellow: He bellowed after a person fell overboard.

9. Beryl: The beryl on her ring was so beautiful.

10. Besom: His mother beat him with a besom.
