● Students will be able to recall cultural metaphors and basic definitions of culture
● Students will be able to describe Miami culture
● Students will be able to define culture shock

4:25-4:35 Class Discussion of “Why Study Abroad” (10 mins)
4:35-4:50 Cultural metaphor PPT: onion, glasses, iceberg, etc. (15 mins)
4:50-5:10 What is Miami culture? Activity Part 1 (Module 2 Drive folder) (20 mins)
5:10-5:20 Miami Culture Activity Part 2 (Culture PPT) (10 mins)
5:20-5:45 Hofstede Dimensions PPT (25 min)
5:45-5:55 Assign/Remind: IES due Thursday

Content:
● Cultural metaphors: onion, glasses, iceberg, etc. PPT (25 mins)
● Culture as the main determinant of our worldviews (tie into Danger of a Single Story
video)
● Hofstede PPT

Activities:
● What is Miami culture? Exercise (Module 2 Drive folder) (20 mins)
● Post-it note activity from LFA (20 mins)

Assignments:
● IES Completion and Grid due this Thursday at noon
