2. Based on the list above I just speak three languages; Indonesian language, manado language
and Balikpapan language. In educational situation, I usually use Indonesia language. But
generally I use Indonesian language in all of formal situations.
for example: when I want to talk with some lecturers in the campus, I mostly apply Indonesian
language.
And I use manado language in an informal situation.
For example: when I talk to my family at home or when I made a conversation with my friends, I
usually utilize manado language.
I mostly applied Balikpapan language in a formal and informal situation in Balikpapan.
For example: when I talk with my teachers in educational context and my friends in informal
situation, I usually use Balikpapan language.
therefore I can speak and understand three languages; Indonesian, manado and balikpapan
languages, so I am multilingual.
3.Both my parents who are multilingual are from Makassar. they can speak four languages;
Indonesian language, Makassar language, Bugis languages and Manado language. when I was
one year old, my mother brought me from Makassar to manado to stay there. At home, my
mother has never spoken to me using their own ethnic language or their regional language but
they used manado language. Therefore I cannot speak both Makassar and bugis languages but I
still understand what they are talking about. because I have lost both bugis and Makassar
language, manado language becomes my first language.

Most of people in Balikpapan used their regional language; Balikpapan language which surely I
did not understand. Because I was minority and migrant there, I tried so hard to speak
Balikpapan language and I habituated to use the language. Two months later I can speak
Balikpapan language. Finally I can speak three languages:
