Walks around the city, excursions in exciting tourist
circuits in each department of the province; hiking
and horseback riding; mountains and other forms of
alternative tourism make La Rioja a destination that
inspires to return.
WALKS TROUGH THE CITY
Not to be missed in the city of La Rioja we find
different museums to learn about the origins, culture,
history and progress of the province, being the
Artisan Market the obligatory stop to acquire regional
products, handicrafts or enjoy the shows in your
patio in the downtown area, we find the Castro
Barros Cultural Promenade, which highlights its
different exhibition halls, confectioneries, fast food
outlets, children's games and movie theaters.

Caceres and the Theater of the City complete the
agenda of the visitor when the sun goes down.
On the outskirts of the city, there is the City Park, a
place for recreation, sports, multiple-use spaces,
recreation with a framework of vegetation and
landscape to be in contact with nature. In the
religious circuit of significant historical-cultural value,
the Padercitas stand out, mud ruins that are
conserved after a construction of walls of stone, and
next to which a temple persists from which San
Francisco Solano would have been able to appease
a group of indigenous decided, to destroy the city.

Surrounded by hills that give it a special framework,
is the Dique Los Sauces, mirror of water suitable for

FLAVORS AND AROMAS
Good living is the order of the day in La Rioja, where
in just a short break you will taste good white and red
wines, olives, chivitos, regional sweets, handmade
jams among vineyards, hills and full nature. The
original strain of the province the Torrontés is a local
pride and sneaks in the meals and sweets to satisfy
travelers with unexpected flavors. Tasting the wine in
the same place where the grapes grow with which it
was made is a privilege that occurs in our province,
where the wineries receive visits with personalized
attention. It is a pleasure to walk through the
vineyards and oak barrels, learn about the
production processes and, finally, taste different
labels and marry them with regional products such
as typical olives that are prepared with traditional and
ancestral processes, transmitted from generation to
generation. The finishing touch comes around the
table, when a tornado, a kid or a lamb is shared with
family or friends; when you eat a pie and you feel the
rich aroma of torrontés as soon as you uncork a
bottle or when you enjoy a homemade bread dipped
in olive oil. The sweets come from the hand of
walnuts, quince, alfajor de turrón and even the
original alfajor of torrontés wine, handmade jams that
sweeten even the most demanding palate. A Break
is enough to try each of these tempting proposals
under the Riojan sky.
SPORTS AND NATURE
You can experience the carrovelismo in the Vientos
del Señor Complex, Arauco Department, a place that
has also hosted national meetings of this discipline.
The winds in La Rioja are favorable for paragliding
flights in both the Capital and the Famatina
department, the options with this sport are
recreational and competitive. The longboard has
found favorable the area of Pampa de la Viuda for
practices and meetings worldwide. Climbing in the
Capital and in more than one department of the
province, trekking in Cable Carril, in Quebrada de los
Cóndores, enjoying the red of the earth in Los
Colorados, learning more about nature in El Chiflón,
in Olta enjoying its vegetation or on the coast at the
foot of the hill. The different challenges of combined
trials in the capital and in the provincial interior are
essential. When choosing what to do with the time
allocated to recreational activities La Rioja in all its
extension offers a number of options. in the Barreal
is the Tourist Complex Vientos del Señor at 40 km
from the city of Aimogasta and 90 km from La Rioja.
An extensive surface of clayey soil of 7 km long by 4
km wide, ideal for the sports practice of carrovelismo,
kite-buggy and leisure activities such as horseback
riding, bicycle tours, walks, enjoying a unique
landscape. Quebrada del Yeso: This imposing
Quebrada is a geological formation of about 15
million years.
