A Lesson Design in Science IV

I. Intended Learning Outcomes


Through varied learning activities, the Grade Four students with at least 75% accuracy
must have:
a. described the effects of the amount of force applied on the movement of an object;
b.
c. demonstrated how the amount of force affects the movement of an object.

II. Learning Content


Topic: Effects of Force on the Movement of an Object

III. Learning Procedures


A. Engagement
The teacher calls the students who are sitting on the chairs which have papers at the back.
Then, she lets the students arrange the papers to form a quotation.

THE JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES BEGINS WITH A SINGLE STEP

After forming the saying, she asks the following questions:


a. What did you do with the words to form the quotation?
b. How do you move the chairs to arrange the words in forming the quotation?
c. How do you call that push and pull of the object which makes it move from one place to
another?

B. Exploration
The class is divided into groups which are composed of 5 members. She gives each group
the materials needed for the activity such as toy car, ruler and chalk. She also gives activity
sheets for each student for them to record to follow the procedures and record the data based n
their observation.

C. Explanation
The teacher asks the following questions:
a. How do you make the toy cars move?
b. How do you compare the distance travelled by the toy cars when pushed by:
 the index finger alone;
 middle and index fingers;
 with one hand?
c. Which degree of force applied by the toy car travelled the farthest? nearest?
d. What affected the distance travelled by the toy car?
e. How does force affect the movement of an object?
