Definition of Set
Set is a collection of objects or objects that can be clearly defined, so that the
object that is included in the set and which is not included in the set can be correctly
identified. For example:
A = { set of natural numbers less than 10}
A = {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9}
Types of Set
1. Universal set
The universe set is a set that contains all the members or objects of the set in question.
In general the set of universes is denoted by S or U. For example:
A = {-2,-1,0,1,2}
Answer:
universe set for A is S = {integer}, or S = {integer less than 3}
2. Empty set and zero set
An empty set is a set that has no members. The empty set is denoted {} or ∅. For
example: set of living things that do not need oxygen.
The zero set is a set that has only one member, namely zero. The zero set is denoted
by {0}. For example: set of counts whose members are less than one, only one
member is 0.
3. Subsets
Set A is a subset of B, if each member of set A is also member B. Instead, each
member of set B is not necessarily a member of set A. The set A is a subset B denoted
A ⸦ B. For example:
A = {2, 5, 7}
B = {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8}
All members A become member B, then A⊂B.
Set Operation
1. Intersection of set
Intersection of set are the same members from several sets. For example:
A = {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10}
C = {3,7,11,12}
it can be concluded that A has a Intersection with C. because there are members in A
that are the same as members in C, namely 3 and 7.
2. Union of sets
Union of sets is a combination of several sets. so that members in the set are in one
set. symbolized by ∪. For example:
A = {3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10}
B = {1,2,3,4}
then (A ∪ B) = {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10}
3. Difference
Difference from set A and set B is the sum of all members A who are not members of
B. Difference between sets A and B can be denoted or written A - B. Difference in
sets A and B can also be expressed with Venn diagrams. For example:
A = {1, 2, 3, 4}
B = {2, 3}
then the difference in sets A and B is {1, 4}.
4. Complement of a set
Complement of set A is a set whose members are not members of set A. Complement
of set A can be denoted or written A 'read A complement or complement of A.
Complement A can also be stated with Venn diagram. For example:
S = {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7}
A = {2, 3, 4, 5}
The complement of set A is {0, 1, 6, 7}.
Venn diagrams
A venn diagram is a way of expressing a set using images.

A ven diagram consists of several elements. As you can see in the picture above, the
rectangular part on the outside is the part called the universe. While the circle inside the
square expresses the set with points that explain each member of the set. For example:
Known set of universes S = {even number less than 10}, set A = {1, 2, 3, 4} and set B = {2,
4, 6}. State the data with the venn diagram.

First we draw a square first, then write the letter S on the upper left side. Because the sets A
and B intersect each other A ^ B = {2, 4}, we draw two intersecting circles. So the results of
