I. OBJECTIVES

A. General Objectives

Demonstrates understanding of Characteristic features of 20th and 21st


century opera.

. B. Specific Objectives

At the end of the lesson the students are able to:

a. Describes how an idea or story in a musical play is presented in a


live performance or video.
b. Appreciate the opera kind of music.
c. Create a short libretto and perform a short opera.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic:: Opera in the Philippines

Reference: MUSIC and ARTS 10 LM pp: 142 – 154

Materials: laptop, projector, audio materials, speakers

III. PROCEDURE

a.) The class will be grouped into four.

b.) The teacher will give a scenario.

c.) Each group will race to assemble themselves to portray a scene.

d. Lesson Proper

Opera in the Philippines

1.) The teacher will play an original pilipino music (opera style).

2.) The students will guess what style of music was played.

3.) Define the opera and discuss the characteristic and short history of opera.

4.) Teacher will give and show some video or audio examples of the opera in
the philippines.

5.) Students will share their views and relate it to the other styles of music by
standing and explaining to the class.

IV. EVALUATION

Mini theatrical play


Regroup the students to four and give specific scenarios to be played in an
opera manner. Let them make their own librettos with a minimum of 8 lines. The
following will be the groups scenario:
1. Classroom (teacher and student conversation)
2. Break-up
3. Dying Moment
4. Sword Fight of Rivals in love
