INQUIRY (5E) LESSON PLAN TEMPLATE

Common Core State Standards:


 8.SL.1 Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one‐on‐one, in groups, and teacher‐
led) with diverse partners on grade 8 topics, texts, and issues, building on others’ ideas and
expressing their own clearly.
Objective (Explicit):
 Students will be able to discuss with their group and then in a class discussion what they found in
their research by articulating new ideas and making connections to the ideas of others.
Evidence of Mastery (Measurable):
 Include a copy of the lesson assessment.
 Provide exemplar student responses with the level of detail you expect to see.
 Assign value to each portion of the response
Assessment: students will have notes showing their original findings, what they learned from group members, and the connections made to others
research during class discussion
