Course Description:
Sixth grade math is a challenging course that integrates content and process standards of
mathematics. Students will increase mathematical knowledge and understanding with a focus on
problem solving, real world applications, and cooperative learning. Louisiana’s Curriculum Standards
for sixth grade mathematics will serve as the framework for this course.
Grade Procedures:
Tests/Projects 60%
Quizzes 30%
Bell Ringers & Homework 10%
Module 6: Statistics
• Understanding Distributions
Homework: Students are responsible for completing their homework assignments daily. Students
will have about 10-15 minutes of homework Monday-Thursday. Homework is checked the next day for
work and effort. If the student completed all problems and showed their work, they will receive
100%.
Tests/Assessments: Students will have a graded assessment EACH WEEK. Skills will be tested
throughout the school year.
EXTRA CREDIT: No extra credit is provided to improve grades. There may be a few
problems here or there, but hard work on homework, quizzes, tests and projects are the way to earn
satisfactory grades.
These expectations for the classroom will be in conjunction with the school-wide PBIS behavior
expectation plan, and we will follow the protocol set forth in the Julius Patrick Handbook and the
Rapides Parish Handbook.
Make-up Policy: Students will have an opportunity to make up missed work. Work that is missed
will be recorded in the grade book as a 0 and will be changed when the student completes the work.
After an absence, the student will have ONE WEEK from the day he/she returns to complete and turn
in work. If the work is not completed the 0 will stay in the gradebook.

A 93-100
B 85-92
C 75-84
