MOVIE POSTER BOOK REPORT PROJECT

FOR “CATCHER IN THE RYE” by J.D. Salinger

Project Description:

For this book report, you will be required to create a movie poster
based on the novel Catcher in the Rye. Imagine, your book is being made into a
movie and you are in charge of advertising. You will be graded on your creativity,
attention to detail, as well as the information that you provide. The poster will be
presented in class and explained. It should look like a movie poster that you see
in the theatres—informative and interesting to the viewer.

Project Requirements:

 Must be created on a glossy poster paper or poster board.

 Size must be 18” by 24”.
 Movie poster MUST BE COLORED.
 A major illustration or collage should be the focus of your poster. It should
give the audience a good idea of the setting or a major plot element
(significant scene) of the novel. DO NOT COPY THE BOOK COVER!
 Title of novel must be in large writing and should stand out on your movie
poster. Font style may vary.
 A maximum of ONE quote shall be incorporated on the poster.
 The movie poster must have a Tag Line that interests the audience and
describes the basic plot/theme of the movie. (For example: Shrek used “THE
GREATEST FAIRY TALE NEVER TOLD” and Charlotte’s Web used “HELP
IS COMING FROM ABOVE”)
 The author’s name will appear on the poster as the director.
 Your name will appear on the poster as the producer.
 A billing block which should adhere to the template at the back page.
Standard Billing Block for this Project:

Note: Do not include A.C.E. and ASC anymore. For your information, they mean American
Cinema Editors and American Society of Cinematographers respectively.

Please align the billing block center. You may come up with fictional names for your studio and
production company. For the list of names, PLEASE CHOOSE NAMES OF YOUR
CLASSMATES.

Use SF Movie Poster (as shown in the sample) font style for the Billing Block.

Date of Submission: May 3, 2019, Friday.
