The book thief movie review Sofia Fajardo 8b

This review is going to talk about the book thief that is based on the novel with the same
name written by Mark Zusak in 2005. This movie was directed by Brian Percival, produced
by Karen Rosenfelt and Ken Blancato; it is starred by: Sophie Nélisse, Geoffrey Rush and
Emily Watson.
The story is about a girl called Liesel that start living with a foster family after the death of
her brother. Liesel with the help of Hans Hubermann (Her foster father) started learning
how to read and write. One day a Jew called Max Vandenburg arrives to the Hubermann´s
house and start hiding in the basement of the Hubermann. One day Max leave the house
because the Germans were searching Jews to take them to some concentration camps.
After this the air attacks start and I one of those the alarm was not activated so everybody
was killed except Liesel. The end of the book thief is that Liesel, years later she founds Max
again. The story takes place in Germany during the World War 2; the main characters are:
Liesel Memingen (The book thief), Hans Hubermann, Rosa Hubermann (Liesel´s foster
parents), Max Vandenburg (Jew hide in the basement and friend of Liesel) and Rudy Stenier
(Liesel´s best friend and fist love). In this movie we can see a strong friendship between Max
and Liesel but also Rudy and Liesel; the type of life that the Nazis had during the ww2, also
the loyalty and philosophy of the Germans.
I think this movie is very interesting, the story is very interesting and very clear that make
that the audience don´t get lost, the context of the story help us to understand the Nazi
thinks and the way they lived. I´m impressed of the wonderful work of the cast, director,
etc. I totally recommended this movie.
