Student Writing Reflection Sheet

Name: Maria Cortez Period: 3 Date: 1/22/2019

Class: Senior English Teacher: Figueroa

Assignment Title: Chaucer’s definition

Student Writing Goal:

My goal for this assignment was to improve my scores and have better word choice.

Instructions:
1) Re-read the paper (and teacher feedback).
2) Complete this reflection sheet.

What was the purpose of this writing assignment?

The purpose of this assignment was to explain the moral of Chaucer’s story. He briefly explained love,
loyalty, and dedication. In the story he explained love as a powerful commitment people have towards each
other.

How did you perform in relation to the expectations of the writing rubric?
No not really I could have done better. I keep making the same mistakes in all of my essays. I want to strive
to improve my score even though it is not completely horrible I know I can do better.

What aspect of this piece did you do well? (give example/quotes to support claims)
My textual evidence is where I mostly succeed in. Also explaining how the quotes helps prove my point.
“He caught her in his arms and kissed her not once, but a thousand time and then a thousand times more and
onto the last day of their lives they lived in peace and happiness.” (Chaucer 4). Beauty comes from the heart.

Why have you/haven’t you chosen to revise this writing assignment?

I have chosen to revise this. I had a little bit of mistakes but those small little bit f mistakes affected me in my
writing deeply. Getting the same score and nothing higher is not for me.

What will you do better in your next writing assignment, and how will I do it?
I will be more careful with my punctuations. In mostly all my essays I forgot some commas. Another of my
mistakes was repetition. I need better word choice and carefully choose my words for my essay to make
complete sense and not get a couple of points knocked out.

To what degree of success did you achieve your previously stated goal(s)?
I haven’t improved. I don’t want to keep getting the same score and accept it as if that’s the best I can do. I
have to revise my own essays more often to notice my small mistakes. Small mistakes go a long way.
3) Revise the paper accordingly and highlight any changes.
4) Submit the revision and this reflection sheet.
