The Problem with the Electoral College

A problem with the Electoral college is that with the way the voting
works some people's votes don't matter and the person who
everyone has voted for to win the popular vote may not always win
the actual election.
The New System
Voting Process : Each state holds their own popular vote designed to weed out the least
favored of the candidates and allow the top candidates that win over their voters to
move on and be part of a bigger vote.

The candidates chosen to move on are chosen via the percentages of total votes to
certain candidates. For example, candidates with at least 25% of the total votes, move
on to a higher level vote. The winning candidates from the state move on to the regional
vote and then to the national vote.

At the end of the race (National vote) the electoral college comes into play again and
like our system today, chooses between two final candidates (one from each party) who
were the top of their parties throughout the race.
Why our system fixes this problem

● This system allows the population in general to have

more of a choice in the voting matter of our nation’s
leader
● Popular vote will actually count and nominate our
candidates
● Candidates that are in “deep red” or “blue” states will
feel less pressured to follow the crowd and have more
confidence in their votes
Reasons for Replacement

● This new system allows people’s vote to matter

● This system is more efficient in choosing a candidate.
● The people have more power in their hand because of
this system
● This system allows both parties to start of the same
and no benefits will be given to any side such as the
democrats have an advantage because of the electoral
college.
● It makes the two-party system function well.
The Drawback

● There is bit of biased when a state is

choosing a candidate
● Independent parties have no chance or
very little chance in this system.
Closing Statement/Points

This system allows people’s votes to matter more .This shows

that this system is more balanced and has less system is biased
because even if there is bias in this system there is only a small
amount of bias and at the end of the day this system chooses
the best candidate.
