A problem with the Electoral college is that with the way the voting
works some people's votes don't matter and the person who
everyone has voted for to win the popular vote may not always win
the actual election.
The New System
Voting Process : Each state holds their own popular vote designed to weed out the least
favored of the candidates and allow the top candidates that win over their voters to
move on and be part of a bigger vote.
The candidates chosen to move on are chosen via the percentages of total votes to
certain candidates. For example, candidates with at least 25% of the total votes, move
on to a higher level vote. The winning candidates from the state move on to the regional
vote and then to the national vote.
At the end of the race (National vote) the electoral college comes into play again and
like our system today, chooses between two final candidates (one from each party) who
were the top of their parties throughout the race.
