Nurse Manager
Tucson Medical Center
5301 E Grant Rd.
Tucson, AZ 85712

To Whom It May Concern:

I am a fourth-semester nursing student at the University of Arizona and I will be graduating with my
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in May of 2019. I have over two years of clinical experience in a
variety of specialties and have maintained a 3.79/4.00 GPA throughout my undergraduate career. The
College of Nursing has provided me with numerous skills practice, theory courses, and leadership training
in order to ensure that I excel during my career as a nurse. I am interested in a new-graduate RN position
within Tucson Medical Center. I am confident that I can adequately contribute to Tucson Medical
Center’s mission to provide exceptional and compassionate nursing care.

As for experience, there are two things that set me apart from others candidates. I was a hospice volunteer
prior to nursing school where I provided end-of-life care and companionship to patients during their final
days. During this time, I cared for eight patients over the course of 11 months and developed skills such
as therapeutic communication by using integrative nursing care as my foundation. In the summer of 2018
I was selected into the highly competitive VALOR program at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care
System. I worked over 400 hours within the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit and Operating Room to develop
skills such as providing high-acuity care, patient advocacy, and patient education. I was also able to
acquire on-the-job experience with medication administration, physical assessments, documentation, and
time-management.

Currently, I work as a student nurse technician in the float pool at the VA Hospital performing tasks like
recording EKGs and vital signs, ambulating patients, recording input and outputs, emptying surgical
drains, and providing patient hygiene care. I have provided patient care in emergency department, hospice,
rehabilitation, critical care, and medical-surgical settings. Working in this role has increased my
therapeutic communication skills, efficiency, and flexibility. I have experience in cultural competency
and working within the interdisciplinary team.

Based on my previous experiences, as well as hundreds of clinical hours provided to me through the
nursing program, I will bring confidence, compassion, and interpersonal skills to Banner University
Medical Center. I care deeply about developing a trusting nurse-patient relationship and providing holistic,
patient-centered care.

I can be reached at (520)-609-8210 or by email: laurensitler13@gmail.com. Thank you for your time and
consideration for this position. Tucson Medical Center is well-known for its exceptional care and the
possibility of receiving a chance to contribute and learn from this organization is exciting. I look forward
to speaking with you in the future.

Sincerely,

Lauren Sitler
