What are you up against?

The CCNA test details are available on the Cisco website (http://www.cisco.com/public/pubsearch.html)
The most recent version of the test is 70 questions which you must complete in 90 minutes (120 minutes
outside the US, and your primary language is NOT English), you need a 68% to pass. According to Cisco
you can obtain partial credit on questions, however according to Sylvan Prometric there is no partial credit.
You must schedule for a test at least 24 hours in advance (unlike the Novell or Microsoft exams), and you
may not take more than one Cisco exam per day. The test costs $100, per attempt, you may attempt as
many times and as often as you like.

Please keep in mind that I am not a representative of Cisco, and that they are not very happy about me
developing this material (I suspect its because you don’t have to shell out several thousand dollars for their

The CCNA has gone through at least one major revision by Cisco. Prior to September 1st, 1998 the test had
a lot of mistakes. Prior to this revision the test had almost a 70% fail rate, since then we are have been
getting around a 80% pass rate. Nobody has complained about any major mistakes in this second revision
of the exam.
