Gas processing and liquefaction

(CHE61803)

Tutorial 4

1. Size a standard vertical oil-gas separator for the following conditions:

Oil flow rate 2500 bbl/day
Gas-oil ratio 1000 scf/bbl
Operating pressure 50 psig

2. Size a horizontal high-pressure separator for the following conditions:

Gas flow rate 10.0 MMscfd

Operating pressure 800 psig
Condensate load 500 bbl/day

Water load 100 bbl/day

Retention time 5 min

3. Size a vertical separator for the following conditions:

Gas flow rate 4.0 MMscfd

Operating pressure 500 psi
Condensate flow rate 60 bbl/MMscf

4. A well test was made using a simple high pressure separator and an atmospheric stock tank and the
following results were obtained:

Gas flow rate 10.0 MMscfd

Operating pressure 800 psig

Condensate recovery 100 bbl/day

What additional recovery could be expected using two-stage separation and 15-psig pressure storage
tanks?
