1.0 SCOPE / OBJECTIVES


The scope of this Method Statement contains information require for safely and efficiently operate for
generator set. It is provided to ensure the best quality of installation and compliance with the contract
documents and approved material submittals.

2.0 REFERENCES/DOCUMENTATION

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY/SUPERVISION
3.1 Construction Manager
3.1.1 Is responsible for ensuring that all works are carried out as per the specifications,
drawing/shop drawings and method statement as per the manufacturer instructions,
coordinated with other works and will plan for the required labors and tools for all activities.
3.2 Site Engineer

3.2.1 Ensure the supervisor is aware of lighting foundations, lighting poles, lighting fittings,
accessories and cable installation procedures & splicing procedures.
3.2.2 Check periodically that the job executed is safely and following the standards installation
procedures.
3.2.3 Ensure that the installation complies with the approved shop drawings and specifications.
3.2.4 Maintain records of work done and submit the progress report to the authorities concerned.
3.2.5 Follow the ITP procedures and coordinate with the QA/QC team for inspection

3.3 Supervisor

3.3.1 Will be directly responsible for the day to day job in the site and handling technicians and
other labors assigned to his area. Supervisor will be reporting to Project Engineer.

4.0 HEALTH & SAFETY


Health and Safety procedure by contractor will be implemented for this job. A routine safety check
will be done by the Safety Officer in charge as per Safety Procedure.
a. Safety Lighting
Safety Lights will be used in case there is a failure of normal lights and will ensure that
adequately provided. Adequate lighting will be provided in the work areas in order to execute
the task by all the workmen.

b. Fire Precautions
General fire precautions will be maintained in the site as per the approved safety procedure .

Communication will be carried out in accordance with safety procedures and reporting all
issues in the site.

5.0 PROCEDURES OF WORK


5.1 GENERAL
5.1.1 Ensure the generator set procedure of installation, operation, and service in accordance
with manufacturer’s instructions and manual.
5.1.2 The generator is completely assembled, tested and adjusted at the factory before it is
ship to construction site project.
5.1.3 (Physical Location) the mounting location is important. It should be installed in an area
that is protected from direct harmful gases or liquids, dust, shock and vibration.
5.1.4 This system is installed in an outdoor location carefully evaluate when selecting a
location for installation of generator should be mounted on flat, smooth and provide
concrete foundation.
5.1.5 Before delivery, be sure that is stored in a location required area or provided space in
accordance to temperature and humidity specifications.
5.1.6 Observe the condition shipping container and report any damage to the commercial
carrier that delivered generator.
5.1.7 Verify that the part number of the generator system received is the same as the part
number listed on purchase number, eg. Kva rating & brands.

5.2 INSTALLATION OF GENERATOR

A. Site Preparation and Generator Placement

5.2.1 When lift or hoist equipment used to lift the generator and move it to position, be careful
not to contact overhead wires or other obstacles. Used proper lift equipment and
methods to avoid injury. Lift only by tubular metal frame.
5.2.2 Make sure the lifting equipment will be using has sufficient capacity to handle the
weight of the generator.
5.2.3 Set the generator onto concrete foundation pad secure the base frame of the generator
to the pad with bolts or other fastener.
5.2.4 The generator to be grounding lug on the base frame and to approved earth ground or
grounding rod as specified local regulations.

A. General Support and Mounting

5.2.5 Mount the Generator on a concrete slab capable of supporting the weight of the
Generator. The slab must extend on all sides beyond the Frame by at least one foot.
Contact a cement contractor for slab specifications if necessary.

5.3 INSPECTION

5.3.1 Submit request for inspection to ensure conformance of the installation work.
5.3.2 Carry out inspection by consultant and obtain their approval in the prescribed Format.
5.3.3 Provide maintenance manual to the engine and generator set as described in the
engine and generator maintenance section in accordance to manual maintenance
5.3.4 After installation check must be performed prior to starting engine. Monthly/Weekly
Maintenance to be performed and the system operation are verified to be good.
5.3.5 Refer to product maintenance manual for periodic checks that must be performed at
schedule intervals to ensure continued operation with minimal problems.

6.0 TOOLS & EQUIPMENT


Ensure proper Erection Equipments / Tools are available for the installation work. Submit
Tools/Equipments list for approval.

7.0 QUALITY CONTROL & DOCUMENTATION


7.1 Carry out the material inspection to ensure that materials received on site are approved the
materials
7.2 Monitor the installation works according to the approved drawings and method statement
7.3 Coordinate with the Engineers and Owners Representative to carry out inspection of the
completed works
7.4 Monitor the work and ensure that all installation or construction works will be carried out in
accordance with the specifications requirements and good engineering practice
7.5 Upon receipt of advice from the constructions team that the work is ready for inspection, the QC
inspector will carry out internal/preliminary inspection of work completed prior to raise an
inspection/testing to the Engineers and Owners Representative
