Making Predictions Worksheet 2 (Answer)

1) Frank fell and fainted.

2) Frank walked for too long and got thirsty but he ran out of
water. Having no water at the desert would usually make
people weak and faint. It already stated in the text that
Frank was getting dizzy. People would usually faint when
they started getting dizzy and fell when their knees got
wobbly.

3) Then the whole place began to cover in snow.

4) Snowflakes stated in the text are flakes of snow. When it

starts snowing, the temperature would usually drop
rapidly and people would usually feel cold immediately
when it is snowing if they did not wear any thick and
warm clothes to warm or protect their bodies from the
cold temperature.

5) The animals suddenly got out of the barn.

6) As stated in the text, the farmer had already reminded

Danny to not forget to lock the barn so the animals don’t
get out. Danny left the lock in a pile of hay by the shovels
which mean he would not have noticed the lock. Hence,
he only closed the door and left it unlocked which led the
high possibility of the animals getting out of the barn.

7) The car then slowly stopped moving.

8) Kenya and teammates was having too much fun singing
their favourite song multiple times in the car that they did
not noticed that the car’s fuel was running out. As stated
in the text, the needle on the fuel gauge drop below the E
line. It usually means that the fuel in the car is almost
empty. A car needed fuel to make it work.

9) Brian has troubles to get on Black Scarlet and the horse

suddenly walk away. Shannon knew right away that Brian was
lying to her the whole time.

10) As stated in the text, Brian has never ridden a horse

before, hence he is an inexperienced rider. As an
inexperienced rider, Brian would not know that he needed
to place a mounting block on the left side of the horse to
mount a horse. Mounting a horse without a mounting
block would put a lot of strain on one side of the horse’s
back, so using a mounting block can reduce the strain and
protect the horse’s back as well as the rider’s body.
Mounting block also helps to avoid the horse from
walking away when mounting the horse. Brian got caught
of lying right away because it is very easy to detect if the
person is an experienced rider or not from the way they
mount and approach the horse.
