2019 ROCK SUMMER FELLOW

Denver CO based preferred, San Francisco based possible. Open to remote work for the right candidate.

Who is MoneyGirls? (Launch date: May 2019)

MoneyGirls is a simple, unintimidating direct-to-girl money destination. Our mission is to give every girl the
money smarts to become confidently independent. Our flagship product, the Monday MoneyDrop, is a once-a-
week, short & sweet email newsletter for the high-school & college girl, that breaks down a relevant money
question just the way she needs to know it. The focus is to build the community, foundational knowledge and
confidence in young women for money decisions, before launching financial products built for them.
MoneyGirls is founded on 3 key principles:
Unintimidated: We make money un-overwhelming. We respect girls enough to make it simple and still arm
them with the foundation of money confidence
Shameless: We have a singular focus on girls. We care about building trust. We sell them nothing.
Impatiently Optimistic: We know knowledge will compel action. We don’t just tell girls to “feel confident”. We
give them credible knowledge so they embody independence
MoneyGirls is founded by Judy Zhu (HBS ‘09), a women in tech with past leadership roles at companies of all
stages, ranging from diapers.com/Amazon to Uber. Most recently, she helped HBS Professor (and renowned
Culture Fixer) Frances Frei launch The Leadership Consortium. Closely working with Judy as a founding
advisor is Danielle Broude Yokell (HBS ‘09), a wealth management guru in Silicon Valley.

Whom are we seeking?

As we launch MoneyGirls, we are seeking a Fellow with passion for our mission of empowering young women
and closing the money literacy gap (thereby the independence gap), and hunger to join an early-stage startup
at ground zero. Our plans are to launch in May and proving traction towards capital raise by summer-fall 2019.
We need a partner on strategy as well as a teammate in execution. We will offer a deep view into to all aspects
of product, growth, marketing, design, and start-up operations.
Strategy:
• Growth strategy: after interviews and focus groups with high-school and college girls, we have a pulse
for where to reach our demo. Requires strategic thinking pulling the ‘when’ and ‘how’ together.
• Community strategy: high school and college interns will join us this summer to seed MoneyGirls within
their communities. Requires an overarching marketing strategy to wrap around referral programs.
Execution:
• Develop (then divide and conquer with founding team on individual workstreams) the specific
plan/steps to drive awareness and broaden reach
• Develop analytics infrastructure on how we measure our impact and telling the story of MoneyGirls
• Help develop company’s product and partnerships roadmap, while devising near-term tests to validate
our ambition and plans

Ideal match
We’ve worked with enough amazing people to know we have zero preference for background. Regardless of
experience, they should have the ability to succeed at companies in the “0 to 1” stage. Only requisites are:
creative thinker, audacious doer, hunger for impact.
