Big Bend National Park for families with kids between 10 and 17

● Big Bend National Park has over 100 miles of paved roads and 160 miles of backcountry
dirt roads for bicyclists to use.

● Visitors can bring horses to the park for horseback riding purposes.

● The Fossil Discovery Exhibit is open year-round and showcases plant and animal fossils
that are 130 million-years-old.

● The park offers four different visitor centers with interactive exhibits that showcase the
history of the park, as well as a theater with a park orientation video that plays every 30
minutes.

● The Rio Grande Village RV Campground offers up to 25 sites with full amenity hookups
including water, electrical, and a 3-inch sewer connection.

● Visitors can take a river trip down the Rio Grande for multiday excursions or half-day
floats.

● The Junior Ranger program at Big Bend National Park is offered year-round and is
available to kids of all age groups.

● Visitors can take scenic drives throughout the park. There are five paved roads that are
available for scenic drives; the Chisos Basin Road, the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive, the
Panther Junction to Rio Grande Village, the Persimmon Gap to Panther Junction, and the
Maverick Entrance Station to Panther Junction.

● Families can fish for free along the Rio Grande. All that is required is a fishing permit
that can be picked up for free at any visitor center.
