As a Junior Front End Developer and Designer for Silicon Practice I’m responsible
for designing wireframes and finalised website designs for our Clinical Commisions
Group clients. Here we have an example of Hounslow CCG through stages of rough
wireframing, concept for tablet and mobile views, and on the next page the full
homepage design.
I’m also responsible for designing marketing materials, dashboard designs for our
clients and assist with designing personalised Footfall sites.

Northlight Design is a wholesale distributor specialising in Scandinavian and

international brands. They also have a retail website that sells products that the
brand represents, such as Rifle Paper Co., Klippan, House of Rym and Pop Chart
Lab to name a few.

As well as following brand guidelines when designing for Northlight, I also set up
and designed the wholesale and retail website. Here I’ve shown the retail website,
where the brief was to keep the colours neutral, yet retail a grid-like fluidity while
browsing. The result is a clean and beautiful website.

Here are a few examples of some of my designs for Northlight.

We send monthly newsletters to our customers, detailing the products and using the official product shots from our
brands to create a structured design for the newsletter.

I also set up and design the archive catalogues containing the brands we sell - here I follow the brand guidelines set
up by each individual brand, as well as put in a unique Northlight feel to it. Publications can be viewed here.

As well as newsletters, I provide the design for all advertising, press releases & branding guidelines for all material.

The Swedish Fabric Company is a sister site to Northlight Design, selling the best
quality Swedish fabrics. I recently re-designed the website to bring a more
interactive & personal feel through the use of animation & stunning press shots.

The Swedish Fabric Company regularly uses on trend motifs to inspire customers
on any potential styles, and we use Northlight’s brands to help cross-promote on
both platforms. Mood boards are a regular feature and here I used an example of a
Monochrome mood board.

Football poster designed for the football & art magazine SPIEL. The brief was about a piece of Football Myth, and I
chose the Austrian Wunderteam of the 1930s. The team were revolutionary and featured a host of star players such as
Josef Bican, Anton Schall, and ‘Der Paperienne’ Matthias Sindelar - the star player.

Unfortunately the team was plagued by bad luck and Adolf Hitler’s intervention of Austria. I included a set of
infographics detailing stories, myths, appearances and goals for each player of the Wunderteam.

The design was inspired by the Austrian style of Isotype picture language first known as the Vienna Method of Pictorial
Statistics between 1925 and 1934.

The Cosmic Scousers project was a year-long piece of infographic & writing piece.

The cover of the Cosmic Scousers book was designed using marble paint and I
digitally manipulated the cover for a more darker and mysterious look (I was inspired
by the covers of Echo and The Bunnymen’s mystical sleeve designs)

It was bound using Japanese side stitch method and printed in a 12” LP style format.

I knew I wanted to expand this subject, because Liverpool’s Psychedelic music scene
is so strong and expansive and lasted throughout the decades I wanted to show this
in visual format. Aside from The Beatles, Liverpool’s psychedelic contribution to British
music is vast, but unfortunately it’s not known widely in mainstream media.

I experimented with different styles at first; cosmic star charts and nebulas were one
of the styles I experimented, but I decided to go in a simpler design direction and took
influence from the LSD chemical structure and how they were connected together.
This eventually led me to look at other chemical structures and how they’re organised,
and by organising my mind map (the bands, venues, era colours etc) eventually a
coherent mapping of the Liverpool Psychedelic story is shown.

Baby Company is a new sister company to Northlight selling baby and child
products while providing new parents tips on cooking healthy meal plans. The
website was created by a former professional chef who turned her passion for food
and the birth of her son into a new business.

I was tasked to set up the website from scratch, provide branding colours &
typography from the brief which I was given - a friendly and approachable brand
was requested which reflected my client’s personality.

A year on from its launch in December 2015, the brand has over 25,000 likes on
Facebook and continues to grow.

Vintage MaryDei is a social enterprise helping carers. As a small business which

sell vintage clothes, it was vital to get their voices heard on the web and across
Wales. Expansion was key and so a re-branding was needed in order to replicate
the direction where Vintage MaryDei were heading.

I went with a more vintage typeface that was reminiscent of 1950s style
typography, while keeping the purple colour scheme in order to portray that air of
stylishness and warmth - combining both the fashion and charity side of the brand.
