Silent Sky Taking the Stage at Susquehanna University Theatre

Selinsgrove, PA – The Theatre Department at Susquehanna University is excited to

welcome the cast of Silent Sky to the Degenstein Theatre stage February 21-24, 2019. With
upcoming shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.,
the public along with students, faculty and staff are welcome to watch as the cast dives into
the play written by Lauren Gunderson.

The drama features Henrietta Leavitt, who leaves her life at home to seek her interest in
space at the Harvard Observatory. Depicting the role of women in the early 1900’s, Silent
Sky shows women being used as “computers” and the women’s determination to normalize
the expression of their ideas. Explore Henrietta’s journey through her achievements and
resilience to battle through the harsh gender expectations of that time.

Silent Sky is just one of the student run productions this year by Susquehanna University’s
Theatre Department. Other Main Stage Season productions included Pippin and Doubt in
the fall semester.

Tickets to Silent Sky are available in the Box Office in the Degenstein Campus Center at
Susquehanna University with tickets being $10 for adults and $8 for senior citizens and
non-SU students. Buy your tickets today to explore the 1900’s with Henrietta Leavitt.
