 PIEZOELECTRIC SHOE CHARGING DEVICE
A transducer can be anything which converts one form of energy to another.
Piezoelectric material is one kind of transducer used for conversion of pressure or
mechanical stress into an alternating electrical current. When we apply force or
pressure on this material it converts it into electric voltage.

Piezoelectric transducer consists of quartz crystal which is made from

silicon and oxygen arranged in crystalline structure (SiO2). Generally, unit cell of
all crystal is symmetrical but in piezoelectric quartz crystal it is not. Piezoelectric
crystals are electrically neutral. The atoms inside them may not be symmetrically
arranged but their electrical charges are balanced means positive charges cancel
out negatives. The quartz crystal has unique property of generating electrical
polarity when mechanical stress applied on it along certain plane.

Above figure shows the working principle of piezoelectric element and 2 nd

one shows the basic circuit diagram of our project. In this project we use the
concept of piezoelectric effect and energy generated by piezoelectric used to
charging the mobile phone and battery. Piezoelectric produces alternating current
which is converted into dc using a bridge rectifier. And a capacitor connected in
parallel to store the energy generated. And this energy is utilized as requirement to
us. We used this energy to charge the mobile device.
