• Lubricant mainly is dispersed in the
oil mist reaching bearings, surfaces,
cylinders
• Lubricant life is limited, can not be
filtered
• Lubrication marginal at starting up
• Bearing film is thin

• Flood lubrication
• Widely used on horizontal
compressor: bearings, cross-head
• Not sufficient for a high speed
compressor

• Feed from oil reservoir by plunger / gear pump
or gravity assistant
• Piston-type lubricators for cylinder lubrication

• Vane compressor lubrication

• To minimize friction and wear of vanes, wear
ring, sealing

• Rotary screw compressor

• Oil-flooded screw compressor, oil is injected into
casing to provide sealing and lubrication
• Injection by discharge air pressure or separate
pump
