Universal Design for Learning (UDL): By utilizing UDL in this lesson, students will be able to see my own
graphic organizer and use it as a guide when they go to create their own. The students will expand their
knowledge about the four seasons through a BrainPOP video and Discovery Education. The BrainPOP video is
an excellent tool for the students who are learning the English Language. These students will be able to listen
to the video as many times as they need to and can turn on the subtitles if needed.
Engagement: Every student will be engaged throughout the entire lesson because it will show me if their
knowledge is really expanding or not. They will be given their own learning device and create their own Bubbl
with the information they have learned.
Representation: By using their knowledge, students are able to create a graphic organizer to help represent
the content that they have learned.
Action and Expression: Instead of students using pencil and paper, I am encouraging them to get creative and
use a site like Bubbl.us either on the iPads, laptops or desktops. When their final product has been completed
I will then publish it on our classroom blog.

Lesson idea implementation: To start this lesson, the teacher will explain the topic of discussion for the
week. The teacher will make sure that each student understands the standard about our four seasons in the
year. The teacher will then turn on a video from BrainPOP to allow the students to gain more knowledge on
why we have seasons and what makes each season unique.
After the video ends, the teacher will instruct the students to form a line in order to get a learning device.
They will then proceed to go to Bubbl.us and the teacher will guide them on how to use this website to create
their own graphic organizer. While giving directions, the teacher will display his/her own organizer to help the

students understand how their Bubbl will be created. The students will be asked to label the four seasons
(Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring) and then list the first thing that comes to mind when they hear a season (ex:
favorite activity, a certain food, place to travel, etc.). When the graphic organizers are completed, each
student will come up to the classroom and present it to the whole class. Each presentation will be different
and unique and will allow the other students who are listening give feedback. They will also say one thing that
they liked the most about the Bubbl that is being presented.

Reflective Practice: I believe that the activity that I have created will impact the students learning ability and
help them get creative. Along with creativity, each student will be more familiar as time goes on with the
different types of technology resources. By allowing the students to use iPads and laptops, their knowledge
on technology is already increasing. Even though the students aren’t as familiar with the technology like other
grade levels, introducing an easy website like Bubbl will help them gain confidence when it comes to working
other technology applications. To extend this lesson, I could have the students bring in objects that support
their favorite season (ex: their favorite ball cap to wear in the summer, or a scarf for the winter). We could
also do outdoor activities at the beginning of each new season.
