Hello,

I am thrilled to hear that this will work out! Our second grade from 10:00 - 10:40 is actually divided into two 20 minutes classes. If you
don’t mind doing the same thing twice in a row, that would be great. I had students fill out some questions they had in class the other
day and will compile a list of those questions most frequently asked to use. I can send them to you before hand so that you have time
to look over them (I’ll work on that this afternoon). I would love it if you could play a little bit for them, I understand that the connections
over the internet won’t give the best sound but maybe you could talk them through how to play? We have discussed it in class but I
am sure you could give them a much more accurate idea.

I will talk with Jill about an application called Mirroring 360 that we use in the district. I don’t know much about it yet, but I believe we
can get it to work. Let me get more details and get in touch with you again this afternoon.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this for our students!

All the best,

Steven

Hello Steven and Jill and Alexis!

I’m thankfully able to meet with you via Skype (or similar) on Monday at 10AM!

Let’s talk logistics (perhaps test our connection ahead of time) and lesson plan (give me an idea of how you want me to fit into the
40-min window) and we’ll make something fun happen for your students! Alexis, although I’m sorry you cannot make it, I welcome
your ideas (like the Lappy Bau) as we discuss possible topics to present for this age group!

Hope to hear back from you soon!

Greg

Hello Jill, Steven, and Greg,

Steven, it is great to hear from you! What an incredible opportunity you are providing your young musicians! I wish I would be able
to tune in for your students, but I am unfortunately in classes and/or teaching in the mornings next Monday-Wednesdsay. If
neither Greg nor I are available during the class times you need, perhaps we could set up a situation where the students tell you
questions, you send the questions to us, and we video record our responses? I know it’s very different than a live interaction, but
it would still allow for an interaction with your students that could be meaningful to them. I could also perform a solo on the
berimbau and break down a few other techniques. I would also be happy to answer any questions your students have, or even
demonstrate another instrument that we have created for Arcomusical’s educational outreach programs, called the “Lappy Bau.”
Let me know what you think of this idea, and thanks for sharing the berimbau with your students!

Take care,

I believe you can work directly with Steven regarding when he would like this to take
place. I would only suggest that it NOT happen on Thursday, May 2nd as we will be
in rehearsals all morning.

Again, thank you for contributing to our young musicians learning!

I have copied my cooperating teacher, Jill Wiechman onto our email thread so that she
can possibly make some suggestions if needed.

Thank you!

Dear Steven,

It is really nice to hear from you and I’m touched that you would think to
develop a lesson on the berimbau for your students. Thank you!

Yes, I would be thrilled to set aside time to meet with you and your
students. Let’s see if our schedules will align. When do you meet these
students? When are you hoping to make this work?

Let me know! And if my schedule doesn’t allow, perhaps someone else in

Arcomusical can do this meeting with you all in my stead. I have copied
Arcomusical’s Director of Education, Alexis Lamb, on this email, so she
understands that you’ve reached out.

We still have very fond memories of our time with all of you in the “Little
Apple.”

More soon,

Greg

Hello Greg,

My name is Steven Robinson. I am a senior at Kansas State

University in my student teaching semester. I was a member of
the Kansas State University Wind Ensemble when we
performed your piece, “Vou-me embora” a few years ago.

I am doing a world music unit with the second graders at my

school and we are learning about the Berimbau right now. The
kids love the instrument and have had such a wonderful time
discovering it. I have showed them a few of your
performances and they thought they were simply incredible.
I’m doing a little bit of dreaming and was wondering if you
would be willing to help me with a project for the kids. My
vision is a little vague right now but I pictured something like
this -

If possible, it would be amazing to set up some kind of a video

chat during class (Via Zoom or anther platform) where maybe
you could demonstrate a few techniques for the students
and/or answer some questions they may have?

If you do not have time for this, now worries. We are right at
the end of the unit (and year) but I thought this would be
wonderful for them if you are available. You were my
inspiration for the unit.

Thank you for making such a wonderful instrument accessible

by all your online resources. It has been a blast to teach this
unit.

All the best,
