NORMAL, Ill.

– Illinois State University student, Jackie Jones, was

grasping onto the jail cells while in police custody, after rushing the
stage during an Adele concert while intoxicated.
Senior at ISU, Jones, stood in line for hours to buy a ticket. Jones
received a ticket for herself, while walking away she saw “sold out”
appear above the box house. Jones was going to see her favorite musical
artist, Adele, perform a sold out show live at Redbird Arena on the
campus of ISU.
The night of the show Jones and her friend, Ashely Pietro, who were
also going to be attending the show, decided to get together and drink
before the concert started. Jones drank for hours before the show with
friends and became intoxicated. Jones and friends still planned on
attending the show regardless of their alcohol consumption.
Christina Perri opened the show at 7 p.m. and preformed for one hour.
Adele came out on stage at 8 p.m. and welcomed the crowd with an
ironic story about how much she loved ISU.
“I love Illinois State because you are all so respectful and polite, it is
refreshing to preform for an audience that can control themselves,” said
Adele.
Jones arrived at the concert at 8:25 p.m. intoxicated and making a scene.
Some ISU students saw Jones that night and were shocked by her
actions.
“She was very loud and could barley walk without knocking into
someone. I have seen Jackie Jones around campus before and would
have never expected her to act like that,” said ISU junior Juliana Smith.
Adele was in the middle of singing her hit “Rolling in the Deep” when
Jones started to make her way through the crowed by screaming and
pushed other audience members. Jones got to the stage and tried to jump
on to touch Adele.
“I tried to hold her back but she pushed me down and rushed the stage, I
knew she loved Adele but I had no idea she loved her that much.” Said
Pietro who tried to stop her from getting on stage.
Security got hold of Jones by grabbing her and throwing her to the
ground before she made contact with Adele. Jones was taken outside by
two police officers carrying her out by her legs and arms. Police arrived
and Jones was arrested. Jones was found to have a blood alcohol content
of 0.14 percent. Jones was extremely intoxicated, she was kicking and
screaming while police put her in the backseat of the police car to take
her to jail for questioning.
“Let me go, I am fine. I want to meet Adele, I love Adele,” said Jones
while police were bringing her to the police station.
Jones was put in a holding cell for several hours, she was crying while
sitting in the cell begging police officers to let her out. once she became
sober and calm police took her in for questioning.
“I don’t remember anything, I don’t even remember walking into the
building to see Adele.” Said Jones to everyone question she was given.
Police charged Jones with public intoxication, she is now awaiting trail.
While awaiting trail, Jones has been called before the student discipline
counsel and has been banned from any ISU events for the rest of the
year.
